Honestly, Nyr's a lot easier to handle if you read his messages in the good-natured voice of the cookie monster, or kermit the frog. If you're upset with something he's sent you, and I have been, VERY upset, I've found it helps to take a deep breath, step back, and try not to read it in the snide, sarcastic tone you're likely reading it in. Jenki has a good point, there is trash to be taken out, though, I've played with a number of you and I don't think you're trash, and I'd like to think we had a good time, but to deny that there's trash to be taken out is a horrible polarization that allows horrible shit to creep in. Someone has to be the bad man. Consider the culture of support you see in current staff. It's entirely possible that the staff member who took unreasonable issue with you was someone OTHER than Nyr, and went crying to Nyr to take point, and Nyr took point, because, that's his job, as the bad man.
I'd like to believe this, but, staff needs to be held accountable. Somewhere, in there, are some real turds, who possibly inform his decisions. It's possible Nyr's one of them. We won't know until someone on staff outs staff with logs, and they'll be doing in their position by doing so, as Aniah discovered by virtue of posting staff-only information.

I mean, we can sit here and spin our wheels all we want to, but until we see the actual proof, factually, undeniably, that's all we're doing. Speculation is just speculation. We all know something's deeply wrong with how things are being run, but there's a very strong possibility other staffers go to Nyr and ask him to be the boogeyman and make the bad player go away. I don't think doing away with Nyr would make the problem go away, whether it's the result of his choice in the promotion of staffers or the other staffers' choice in his promotion.
I think we have a good deal of evidence in his correspondence with other people, however, I, personally, suspect Jazet, perhaps irrationally due to my personal perspective of him, of not including the entire truth. I still think it's fucked up they threatened his wife's account, and, despite my personal issues, have mostly good things to say about their game.

I mean, I should add, we have some evidence, to say there's enough, from that, though, is to be fanatical about our own perceptions. One should never polarize an issue to the point where that's all they can perceive. Sadly, this seems to be the issue with the current staff of the game. To err is human, every last one of us do it. To not admit it, as staff has done, is to reinforce your own monstrous behavior. I waffle, I waver back and forth, and I admit this, and see no problem with it, because in the end, I get perspective. Some would view this as wishy-washy, inconsistent, and undesirable, but such people are utterly incapable of seeing their own faults, or the error inherent in limited human perspective, and, destined for destructive, and ultimately, self-destructive behavior.
In myself, I have to be especially reflective of my self-destructive tendencies, as I have abysmally poor self-control. To some of you, it may seem that I'm not doing the best job I could be, and, this is true, but to take this criticism to heart and utterly dismiss the progress I've made, well, that would set me on a self-destructive path. Some people are stable enough that they can make destructive decisions lightly, and without consideration, but myself, I think this is folly. A wise person once said, judge not lest ye be judged yourself. And stuff about motes in eyes. As I've come to understand it, this does not mean do not judge, it means don't judge until you've reckoned with your own failings, and don't simply judge for the sake of judging, but judge out of compassion for others.

May well be an irrelevant post, given current event. But never let it be said BA doesn't finish what she stalks starts. Dman, close your eyes. This little angel has already creeped you out with her stalkerish ways; an effective interwebz stalker will be even creepier. To those who PMed me: Thank you! And I will gladly comply with your (sometimes implicit) desire to keep the needed info for personal use only. I won't be passing any of the names or logs on without your express permission. Theory confirmed - Player-Nyr as shown on the GDB was witty, lively, and typically wrote with what I might fairly characterize as a gentle sarcasm. Storyteller-Nyr was pretty much as I remembered him. Producer-Nyr needs no introduction. Current-Nyr... You know what, if he's stepping back for some reflection and personal growth, I wish him the best. I truly do. We could all do with those at different times in our lives. * * * Okay Desertman, you can look again. Nothing B-Rated here anymore. Ascribe what motives you might to my actions, but I feel I understand the situation, both Nyr and some of the larger trends influencing a game we have all loved better than when I started. Hopefully this thread has been of use to others as well. ...And hey, I think I'll see you in Zalanthas, GAAAAAGE GRITSHAW!

I also wanted to clarify something - "piercing the veil", for me, means linking player and staff accounts. It does not include putting someone's personal RL information "out there" for public consumption on the internet. That would be, IMO, reckless and unethical, and perhaps actionable in a civil law sense.
I do also easily see the reason why, in a healthy and otherwise-transparent system, one would want to divorce player and staff accounts. The current iteration of Arm is neither of these, hence this thread.
