The very few times that I've actually been around to see area emotes, I have always been tempted to RP like I was some totally chill 80's jock about to light another cigarette.
I love the idea of this, but these things so rarely ever actually *involve* players. It's like the staff are playing with staff. Did this particular event actually have on-the-ground consequences for people, or was it just a laser light show interrupting your same-as-always discussion about the windy weather at the Gaj?
I would be very much impressed if this led to some world-shattering drama where Tek actually gets deposed and the game can finally move forward into a world that is more dynamically shifting, with REAL power plots. The all-knowing, all-seeing templars with their global-reaching spells and Way capabilities is just old and burnt out.

With observations like this, I'm surprised you didn't join the board sooner. It's like I said in RogueRougeRanger's intro thread: the reason the things you want aren't happening is because the staff don't want them to happen. It has nothing to do with the world. They use the setting as an excuse for why they chose to shoot your idea down. It's all them. You still wouldn't be able to move things in the game if every PC was a sorcerer and the rest of the world were merchants.

Could this be a step toward the end of Armageddon MUD?
A final, climatic battle between whats happening in Tuluk and everyone in Allanak? Then the game is shut down. At least it would go out with a bang instead of a whimper.
Probably not, but a part of me won't dismiss the idea.
