I'd only been playing for about a year and a half when that happened to Nadhir. I literally had no idea what to do after watching a HG casually murder someone in the sparring yard and speedwalk away. :\
I told staff but they were like "Whelp, was he lifesworn? No. Well, it wouldn't make much sense for your PC to give too many fucks."
Um, okay?
Had it happened after I'd gained more game knowledge I would have:
>dump giant >tell giant You're not leaving the compound alive.

Sorry that story made me LOL.
I mean I Get super butt hurt but I got maybe... energy for revenge for a day.
That amount of dedication to revenge over a text base game is awe inspiring.

On a side note, I cannot fathom why anyone gives two shits (or sids) which gender a given player prefers to play on a text-based RPG.

Because legit content and arguments is so hard to find on a message board about niche RPI's muds that we're reduced to sad attempts to troll each other. sirra I'm not trolling here. So ultimately you weren't mad that you died or that another character made a "revenge character" to kill you. It was the fact it was kind of cheesy and made little to no sense IC? IF say, the "revenge character" was cleverly crafted and ended up killing all IC. Did it cease being a "Revenge character". I'm curious of your input.

Top, add to the discussion! I was kind of curious to feelings about this. Or seeing if people could share stories. As I mul'ed it over I wonder what constitutes just regular play from the "NEVER MAKE A REVENGE CHARACTER" move. Like How would staff or even players tell at one rate? im averse to using the term because it puts a needless focus on ooc reasons for shit that is going on ic (because ultimately a persons ooc motivations for triggering ic events is irrelevant) that said id draw the line at coming out of chargen with the next char after the one that some dude killed, going in, following the guy, and trying to kill him because at that point theres usually very little to explain the bizarreness of the behavior esp so soon after having the last char killed. or maybe making obvious refs to the death or ur last char (since ur not allowed to make connected pcs anyway) to spur on ur new chars vendetta barring that if ur ic background and ig storyline checks out theres no reason to give a shit about why u like constantly playing chars that hate that tenneshi aide (or her house, or tuluk, or the labyrinth, or any part of the game u want to hyperfocus on to get ur fix). again this goes mainly for players including sponsored chars mostly because staff both can id a chars player at their discretion and abuse them more easily for it vs. say a sponsored pc which is going to be more highly monitored anyway

Creating a character specifically to kill a certain PC is fucking lame.
You get PK'd take your lumps and grow a pair. This is an RPI where people die everyday.

IF say, the "revenge character" was cleverly crafted and ended up killing all IC. Did it cease being a "Revenge character". I'm curious of your input. I always find it a bit dubious when someone prefaces a remark with 'I'm not trolling'. But here you go: I was upset precisely because it turned out to be a revenge character. I was more upset by staff doing nothing about it.Anyhow, I think it's obvious that you should never make a character for whose any part of their motivation is predicated on righting the wrongs of a past alt, no matter how you conceal it. Someone will notice it, and it will look shady, and you won't be able to adequately defend it. I honestly believe that those who have made a practice of this, do eventually get what's coming to them. There's only so many people you can get revenge on before you either A) Become a staffer and ascend like a mighty phoenix to lay claim to the game as your own (re: Nyr) or B) cross a staffer's alt or friend. Dude, he went apeshit on the gdb and claimed Nadhir had several magick rings despite living in Tuluk (I don't know whether Nadhir was Tuluki-born and I don't have a dog in that fight) AFTER you killed his old as dirt and buff as fuck half-giant. His tirade was abruptly deleted and he was summarily banned. I say this because this is what Crashloft said to me himself. Now, staff COULD have let him back but after Grom died he kind of disappeared from AIM and we haven't spoken much since. Interesting. Well, ultimately Crashloft wasn't involved in Nadhir's death, beyond an OOC instigator/encourager (friend of those involved). At the time, I heard he was just banned from the GDB. As much as I hold him in contempt, him and Grom are actually on the sunnier side of my Armageddon memories. The things that really got to me, and stayed with me, were all staff-related. Like outright lies being put in my account notes, that I didn't find out for years. And no, Nadhir wasn't Tuluki. he was a tribal. i wish i can make someone as butthurt as sirra one day Well. I've never been butthurt enough to make a revenge character, or carry over IC grudges into new characters. If you can make someone butthurt enough to do that, then you've really mastered the art. But again, this is all in the past tense. Only relevant inasmuch as it's a thread asking about experience from dealing with revenge characters. There's many worse things about Armageddon. Such as Nyr or Adhira. That entire incident doesn't even come close to a fraction of the frustration those two brought me, before I realized it was futile. The only Armageddon-related disturbances that linger with me have to do with annoyance at the game's waste of potential, and what it could've been under different leadership.

The best revenge characters are the characters who get revenge on everyone and by revenge I mean sociopathic dudes who chop up mothafuckers with bone swords.
