Yes, because rangers get scan and listen which are arguably more essential in cities. Also because rangers get access to medical skills and poisoning which are also more useful in cities than outside. My corollary advice is to not play a slipknife. It is a literal grab bag of all the skills that need to be maxed in order to be perfectly effective. I would not rely on backstab or sap in the city at slipknife levels. Although, if you're going to be ye olde absolutely incredible strength dwarf or mul with a two-handed maul and max hide, then by all means, have at sap. A rogue/cutpurse/thief subguild would work much better for a city role. Although, I can't remember if cutpurse get city stealth. But yes, having scan/listen is incredibly important for a city-centered role. If you do business outside the city, then no-hands ride will serve you well. Direction sense works in various city tunnels/sewers as well. True, and that's right, hrm.... I love you guys. Have I ever told you all that?

I would like to know more about improving your relationship to the land. Does it matter where you pour the water?

Thanks...How long does it take to notice a difference? IG years, as a viv, who would put an oasis and empty it put pouring out many skins once a RL day. for weeks on end. All that to nurse and transplant a Kalan bush someplace it shouldn't had been. Just saying...

For the record. Once the plant is saturated with moisture, watering it is kinda useless for awhile. So popping open an Oasis and watering it until it's all empty isnt as useful as going to a pool with a plant glowing there and watering it once. Which is a way I improved my own relationships to land within a rl month, or so.

It's mostly a sorcerer thing. The general idea is that people with good relationships regenerate faster in wilderness tiles.

Few quick questions. I understand the general concept of warriors quite well. Have done them to a successful* degree and am now giving rangers a chance.
Question the first. When it comes to defense or offense should I focus on a bit of both in the grind or just straight up offence?
Question the second. Since they dont start with parry them getting hit does make their defence definately tick up so, how long does it usually take before a ranger starts taking a few less hits and starts being a dodgey little elf even if they are not really high agi or anything, which is entirely possible given that I have seen a half giant ranger dodge four guys at once for a minute or so.
Question the third. How do I train the various ranger things, hunt is duh but things like watch and listen, can these be passively grinded up or do they need to be focused on for some time to ever hope to reach master.
Thats all thanks in advance my nerdly friends and shit.

1. You'd have to ask someone who played post-sparring changes. Generally speaking though grinding is grinding. Go find Jozhal and beetles scrabs if you're in the south. If you're in Luirs use the bounty of the north and find some raptors.
2. Early term dodging is bad for you and normally indicates that your specialize defense to that type is to high. If you're seeing it switch to a different thing to grind on. This is why I suggested sparring for grinding after you're able to hunt proficiently.
3. Listen: Go stand or sit at a tavern. Stand if everyone is sitting at the bar. Sit at a table if everyone is at the bar. They should be using talking for you to benefit.
watch: Just type watch at people periodically

Thats all thanks in advance my nerdly friends and shit. All this depends on where you start playing and whether you're in a clan or not. If you're new to rangering you really should start out in the north. But I'm assuming you're going to solo. 1) You get a bonus v wildlife, but shitty defense. So absolutely do not go looking for beetles fresh out the box, raptors either (cause gith). They can and will rock your shit. Focus on doing survival type stuff, ie hunting small game, skinning, tracking, forage and shooting. The smaller stuff will get you hits and misses enough where you're relatively safe to raise both. You're going to be doing this for a few days of play time. 2) Its going to take you a loooooooong time to branch parry. It's one of the most ridiculous branches in the game. It takes so long, most people don't do it. You're going to be hitting with your off hand all the time, even when you never hit with your main hand. 3) hopefully, you've been going into the nearest hub of rp while you're doing 1 and 2. You need listen to branch sneak. So you have to pop in a tavern and listen for a while off at some table to the side. Watch is going to be tougher, but just try to find a really good rp'er that does hemotes and start watching them. Once you get to journeyman you're pretty much Zatoichi and you notice everything anyway so you can stop there.

Use watch and mudsex frequently. Or watch while sparring.
EDIT: Yes, even my mudsex is twinking.
