I dunno man.
Stealth can be kinda bullshit sometimes.
I've had someone fail every one of their spammed steal attempts at me (there were at least fifteen of them), and when I looked in the room I could see "a strange shadow"-- however said strange shadow disappeared every time I typed "watch shadow" or "look shadow".
But hey. Didn't have scan, so I didn't have any hope of finding the guy close enough to mindlessly dig through my pack.
On the flipside, I completely understand that trying to play a thiefy stealth class is bullshit. You shouldn't -have- to be some criminal mastermind mega assassin can't-see-me-in-plain-sight ninja acrobat just to play a lowly pickpocket or mugger.
This is why cheap mdesc-hiding gear has never seemed like a bad idea to me, so long as they're done properly.

Watch is bullshit. If someone does that to you, just spam 'kill shadow'.
Chasing delves around the tablelands, I learned to 'charge shadow' early and often.

Right. Rangers can kill stealthies pretty easily, I've done it. warriors are kinda screwed but thats the choice you make and also.. not hard to get a ranger buddy to charge shadow and then you just roflstomp their shit in with your max bludgeoning and kill them instantly.

Items and money are so easy to come by in arm. Anyone that has played a sneaky knows its not op. Its balanced enough for both sides to be playable. You gotta do work to be able to steal well. You get caught and pay for it before skilling up. Stealing from players is risky. You could die, each and every time you attempt to steal. Anyone that gets pissed about losing their possessions needs to lose their character because all that shit is easy to come by...Really so is a character. If someone back stabbed you for your boots, too fucking bad. WELCOME TO ARMAGEDDON! Get shit mugged! Welcome to armageddon! There is nothing wrong with losing stuff or your character, Welcome to Armageddon.

My nilazi I made after Seik wasn't a revenge pc, but rather just some dunce I had in UT that was eventually hunted down or something by npc soldiers. I tried climbing to escape and fell, breaking my neck in the process. Cross-thread quote i brought over here to support an earler point... Oh. And one tip for anyone who plans to go with a stealthy, low-combat type character: CLIMB. Do not neglct climb. it is one of the most important skills youll ever have. It probably sounds slly to read that if youve only ever played warriors or mages or whatever. But climb makes the difference between running where you cant be followd or killed. people may even knock themslves out chasing you up a sheer wall.

Issue with hide is that most guilds have no method at all with which to try to counter it, so even if someone hides in your tiny one-room apartment, you simply can't do anything about it. There needs to be a way to search people out, like on SoI. Scan can remain the thing for rangers and assassins and whatnot so they can go after hidden targets and keep watch while doing their thing, but the fact that you're a warrior shouldn't mean you just don't have the ability to look under the couch.

Perhaps scavenger? He lived in UT and I just happened to fail at a critical moment.

So what is the issue with hide? They may as well call it "invisibility" in most cases.
