TO get back on topic. In the past I have felt the need for some of the recent implementations regarding growth of a merchant. It seems that growing with a merchant or as a mercenary crew is an easier option than it once was, though difficult still at least it is supported.

The thing is, trollness, is that if they don't want a PLAYER, like this one dude or that dude specifically, building a clan... Then they will do every single passive aggressive thing in their power to prevent it.
Refer to mastercrafting objects meant to be "cool" flagship items of a clan being edited down to a generic cloak, not much different than what could already be purchased.
The facilitation of clan development seems extremely biased and selective. Magickers (even in contemporary times) can build a fortress out in the middle of nowhere, but omfg if some Bynners want to break away and do their own thing. But I mean, it's easier to just kill off a lot of them instead of facilitating the growth of another group, as has recently been seen with exclusively magicker groups.

If it's a group of exclusively high karma magicker characters, yeah, let's help them.
But if it's one or two high karma combat characters, holy shit, not only are you guys not even getting a shot at the clan starting tools we supposedly had made available, but also, since there are so many of you with low karma characters and (I realize in the last few days), people from the shadow board, well, may as well kill off a bunch of you fuckers so the ringleaders don't go getting any big ideas, y'know?

You can start your own clan if we like you... But if we decide we don't like you, we can automatically store your character because, well, fuck you.
Umm one of the reasons I might want to start my own clan is to avoid being subject to auto storing in the first place, but the minute your hard built clan is legit, you CAN be auto stored because, by Nyr's definition, you're a "sponsored role."
Sorry, Nyr has shown too much bias for me to make an attempt at a clan without anticipating heavy resistance and unequally distributed criticism and judgment over the actions of the clan.

I think any clan that overlaps a current organization would get smashed. That leaves only a few options.
Poison acquisition/crafting and sale Magical components Skills training (maybe an assassins guild?) Materials importers Maaaybe a new tribal group
Any chance a dwarven tribe could recruit and be allowed to flourish?
Got any others?

There are all sorts of possibilities for clans, despite the fact that they're gearing everyone toward a GMH style clan.
It's just, do you want to try and get nuked, because you weren't who they had in mind when they started a buzz about player made clans.
If a good player gets the ball rolling on something, and if it's fun enough, huge swathes of the playerbase can get involved. Like the last time the Black Moon was active, or the Byn last winter.
But they don't want clans like that, so they'll fight against them from the onset.

There does seem to be alot of resistance to everything. Though options have been made more available, are they really? Its tough to say, but I know before such things were implemented I got shut down and got little support from staff, if not being told not to do that. I suspect little has actually changed, but in theory it is a nice thought.

If it's a group of exclusively high karma magicker characters, yeah, let's help them. Do you mean the Conclave here? Ages old, and I mean ages. That fortress had been collecting dust for a long, long time before they finally just turned it into a patch of grass in the Salt Flats. In any case, there's been no support for player groups of elementalists, gemmed or not, since CAM was closed down by House Oash's maneuvering back in 2008 or so. So far as I was able to tell.

There has been at least one such group. Other people know the story of the Hasan debacle better, but to summarize, through much of 2013 there was a pc sorc who built up about 8-12 mages and at least one mul. They had their own private storyline, and one of the mages was being taught sorcery.

Yeah edit:@banme, I was sort of alluding to that. You facilitate groups like that, but then when some mundanes in the Byn try to form up, they get blocked on something as lame as a mastercrafted cloak, or renting a warehouse.
