They would say it's an unnecessarily large workload. Okay, it is hard to build a fort, so let's just pretend the coolest fort ever never happened...

See, they at least did Sanvean the good turn by giving Tyn Dashra a well-thought-out, sensible end... they dropped a volcano on it.

I know Sanvean most likely gives little to no shit about Arm these days, do think this kind of shit would be happening if she was still around?
Seem to me from her youtube video's she was in lots of plots with long lasting marks on the world.
Shit doesn't happen any more.

With all this talk of player based clans, I can't help but to think of the Conclave. The Conclave were already on their way out by the time I was a new player, and their IC recruiting was nonexistent, pretty much. But I remember conversations with the player of Gerrol, or Old Stone, the founding member, an 8 RL year old dwarf Rukkian. Think with me about this for a moment, now. This dude worked for 8 RL years to form the Conclave, eventually managing to have his OWN FORTRESS built. They were always one of the most mysterious clans to me, and as a newbie, I remember being a Bynner camped outside the walls of that fort, hearing ominous MOO'ing emanate from within. But the thing is, Nyr just completely retconned them. Not even their fortress remains in the Salt Flats, and they have been closed for close to a decade. The moral of a story? You can work extremely hard to make a player built clan, and then later on down the line, some asshole who never saw you enter even one emote, can just make it all disappear. Poof. It's terribly easy to dismiss others' contributions to the game. It's a terrible tragedy when monuments to what people have spent as long as EIGHT YEARS making just... Vanish... Because some guy who never even knew them decided it should. I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that's fucked up. thats really terrible and fucked up

I agree. That's sad, that fortress was always a favorite mysterious thing to me a newb salt grebbing. I was so sad to find out, not matter how hard I try I'd never get into it, or find anything interesting other side of the flats. I didn't know Nyr Recont'd it. Which is just shitty and uncreative. Like that thing could of been used again, in a real honest way. Like is Arm's staff just some black hole of creativity in which all idea's and inspiration are sucked in and they only see fit to remove shit? Like I've never meet human's who actually had negative creativity. Like in a way that not only are they aren't creative, but they literally suck creativity out of things they touch. What a fucking concept... FWIW, Adhira is the one who had me go around unlinking it, not nyr. Dunno who ultimately made the call, but that was the hand that gave the order. The why? People kept *underfuckingstandably* investigating the outside of it and trying to get in. So rather than allow players to ever get back into it, I was ordered to unlink it, so that no one would run into it and get curious, using the excuse 'I'm sure it would be buried by now anyways'. I hate the guy too, but in this case: please know it wasn't him unless it was all talks I was never privy to and she was the one to order it despite that.

Wasn't it only recently that the outside of the fort was disconnected?

It happened a few months before I left staff, so summer or fall of 2011. It made me sad to see it go, too. I think the ultimate thing that decided it, was Oash sending drovians to try and get in, and rather than being able to say what was inside (as shadows can go through walls, so the player would know), the senior staff decided that the only way to deal with it was to unconnect it. Just like 3-4 other areas they'd also sent drovians to investigate that used to have cool shit, like the cells and water inside a cave in a rock face that was unlinked though the rock face was left, etc.
To add to the fortgate tales: I was staying in the place with the cave outside Cenyr that used to have the 'camp' of abandoned quit-safe, save room tents, only to log in and find it destroyed and something I couldn't reenter. This happened with no visible discussion while I was ON the staff. Same with a room in the cave on the Shield Wall that led back to the secret room in the 3 connected rooms, where you used to be able to forage food (aka the next place the pc moved), and once she was there a while, THAT was changed, so you couldn't forage food there anymore.

I was thinking they had unlinked the subterranean part a long time ago but kept the actual walls. But aight.
And yeah, CaveGate. That tent was the shit.

Yeah. I played 2 sorcerers, one of which died in an hour, the other of which decided to live there. Eventually the nakki templarate decided to undertake a mission to wipe her out that one of her gemmed "contacts" warned her about... so he got there to see nothing but an empty tent, with ginka jam smeared like blood in a huge, malicious grin across the floor of it. I miss that cave. There was so much RP between rogue pcs of all types that went on there, because it was such a good camp site, so close to such an isolated place. *sigh* Honestly, it's stuff like that, and knowing about those places being destroyed which just kills the world for me, every bit as much as horrible admin decisions. Knowing how much cool shit exists, that was unlinked to prevent players (from whatever, insert it here) over time.

It's just more evidence that Adhira is as much a problem as he is, despite her more pitiful attempts at endearing herself.

I've been in there only once, as a gypsy witch who briefly met some of them inside of the fort in the early 2000s.

Got in with a Burg a couple years ago. One of the warriors with me took a Runed Oxe that you could order to do stuff.
