It's, unthinkable to me someone would ragequit with one day and a few hours played and getting legitimately PKed because they played too fast and loose. Fuck, you were having fun, you can still have fun. It's when you've been playing fast and loose in the same place for near 13 days played, have success, then go to playing more carefully and get PKed for some stupid shit at near 20 days played that makes you angry.
You want to play fast and loose? You enjoy it? That's great, do it on you next PC, and the next, and the next. If it feels good, keep stroking it. find the edge, right where it is, and skirt it, and see where you fall off, and try to understand why it happened. I think the problem is focusing on absolutes, you don't have to go to extremes. Did you go to extremes? Well, you slipped out of the grey area and into the black, so somewhere you did, whether you see it or not, you went over the highside.
I think what sums it up is your previous characters were boring and you decided to rebel and you enjoyed it, and you thought more of the same would be good, and you were enjoying it so much, it so contrasted the previous boredom, and you were so into the character, that when it all came crashing down on you, it felt horrible. But, one day played is nothing. You don't have to live forever, and anyone who does is a cunt-rag. You're not here to win armageddon, you're here to play a multiplayer game of extreme difficulty. No one wins, no one. Even Ruke was murdered. How can you feel cheated?
All things in, well, kinda moderation, my friend. Contemplate it, suck it up, and make a new plan. I'm sure when you finally find your groove, you'll rock that shit.

So, as our Drill Sergeants used to say, suck it up, drive on. You don't get a trophy just for showing up, in fact, you're likely to get fucked in the most horrible ways imaginable. Welcome to the real world, shit sucks, but you know what, if you're lucky, you get to deal with it.

I don't think you necessarily understand the general context of the situation. I hardly played in the first place, then the brief stretch of time I do play, is enough to warrant someone coming to kill my character with little to no interaction prior. The fact is that with only that roughly 24+hour window of my entirety of playing that character, about 5 of those were within the past few days. The character was made on 6/12/16*. That should sort of say something about the amount of time I played - it was the same amount of time it took for Friday to kill another player using a sponsored role over unconfirmed rumors from Runners. ?? |
