Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat!? Mantis-brain-wave spice? Sounds a lot like Dune. What if there were certian spice that enabled some psionic/mindbender ability?

Well apparently no one here has done this yet because no one seems to know the echos, scents and exact buffs for kemen. So we are all lazy. Clearly. Supposedly (according to a book IC from the Tuluki Library), kemen boosts everything combat related. If it does so, it does not do so well enough to notice a bracket change in category (ie novice to apprentice etc). What I believe it means though, rather, is that it boosts your offense, which would make sense of why it is so expensive, as well as how it would affect 'everything' combat related. The echo is 'you feel invulnerable'. For anyone foraging in the thorn/grass who finds the patches of greenish lichen which are like agross, the brownish one is like a grain of unrefined kemen, same echo and all.

A spice effect like that would change up the world dynamic and probaly be tighly controled to the point it was never used (like many of the magic reaches), unless the effect were very minor like dulling or negating psionic capabilities. Might be something interesting to have in Tuluk (with evenly tempered side effects of course.)

the three lichens = one pinch rule? I have heard that the 'fake' spice analogues are in effect, 'grains' of spice, for dosage purposes.

From the shoutbox:I didn't see the word "overdose" in the thread yet. So it's worth mentioning you can totally OD on spice. well. unless they removed that.
IIRC when you die the message is something like "You transcend the mortal plane". Or "Your spirit transcends to a higher plane". Or some hippy bullshit to that effect. Then...

[MANTIS HEAD]I think it was mortal coil, but I was high IRL when it happened with the pc who tried to OD and succeeded too, so... there's that.

I stand my my statement, as it would be the best overdose ever.
Can you imagine how pissed off Kurac would be? They wouldn't even be able to kill you themselves!
