Moved to this forum upon request:
How would one visit the Plane of Vivadu? Is there a portal left behind when you cast Gate or something? What happens when you cast gate inside the Plane? Can you use the Plane to across the world (entering through one point, exiting another)? What sort of entities live in the Planes? Are they hostile?

There is a portal to vivadu, yes, but as far as I am aware, it was both created by Kust of the halflings, and disappeared not long after the Grey Forest flooded and took all the halflings back to the water plane in the meantime. The gate spell summons elementals from the plane, that is the only thing it does. I'm not sure what would happen if you cast it in the plane, I've never tried it or seen it tried. You can't use the plan of vivadu to cross the world like that, no, but if you become ethereal I believe it puts you bodily in the plane of drov which actually -does- mirror the material plane, and can become solid again somewhere else in the material plane, but I've never tried it myself so I'm not sure. Elementals are the only entities that are native to the planes, and they change up depending on the plane. None of them were ever hostile to my staff avatar, but while I was in the plane of ruk with a rukkian of mine, they were attacked by crystalline gaj native to the plane, so at least some are hostile. And if you fail the gate spell's check the summoned elemental will try to kill you.

As part of a plotline circa 06-07 / reborn end of the world, the elemental planes opened up. (As far as I know, they weren't open before this... But I didn't do much magickal role play before that time, so I'm potentially wrong.) In any case, specific places around the world opened up entrances to other plains of existence. The three I know about are:
- Ruk: In the Tablelands, below the Oasis known as "the Gem." 5-6 room drop with aggro mini-gajs at the bottom. Not terribly tough, but might finish you if you're KOd by the drop. These things will attack Rukkians too. There are a few different elements in here, including a mekillot and some stone humanoids with awesome stone towershields (always wonderd if you could cast wielding one of those...) Also, there are glow crystals of about every color laying around.
- Whira: Above the (former) Tan Muark lands. Have to be able to fly to get up there. There are some invis elementals hanging around (birds mostly, I think?) Also, this one is basically a free-for-all of just flying around. The rooms circle around on themselvs if you go too far in any direction, so it can be hard to find your way back out.
- Suk-Krath: In the volcano that used to be South-West of Allanak. You go in without a fireshield and you die pretty quickly. I went in without a fire shield, so I can't tell you much more...
(Anyone know more of these? I'm curious where Elkros, Drov, or Nilaz might be. I've heard a rumor that there's a plane entrance in the Sea of Silt.)
Gate summons elemental creatures. You can use the order command to make them cast spells (order <gate> cast <spell>), however they don't seem to have much mana, and they don't seem to regen it at all. Someone on here said they can cast any spell you have, but my experience with this differs. I believe they each have a spell list - the more powerful the gate, the more spells they have available. When you summon them, there's a chance for them to attack you, but they do have mercy on, so at most they usually just knock you out. (They're unarmed, so it's just hit/stun damage).
Never casted Gate inside a plane...
Gate makes a creature appear, it doesn't actually open a gate. NILAZIs have a Travel Gate spell that allows you to move around. They also have a regular gate spell that lets you summon elementals.
I don't believe the stuff in Whira is Hostile. (Either that or none of it has detect invis on.) Only the Gajacks in Ruk are hostile afik, but they're small and fairly weak. IDK about anything in Suk-Krath.

Drov is literally a mirror plane of the material plane. It is the material plane but the player has to be a sent shadow or ethereal to see it.
Elkros, I'm really not certain. I don't recall having ever seen it or hearing anything about it.
Nilaz is Old Tuluk and some other places, I believe, but there's weird, surreal, fucked up elements there. Like rotting corpses all over, eternal gloom, and so on.

Elkros is a quasi element so it's possible there isn't even a plane. Same with krok or whatever it's called you use to cast stoneskin on yourself.
That being said, I always heard rumors it was located in Red Storm or around the Silt Sea, though I sincerely doubt it.

There is a spell that allows casters to visit different planes. A Vivaduan with this spell could visit the plane of Vivadu.

That may be the case, jenki, but it's not part of the vivaduan's spell tree. How does one go about getting it if not directly through staff adding it? And what is the likelihood of staff adding it? I think most people know the answer to that one.

Half-elementals usually get planeshift. So the likelyhood of getting it are about half as likely as becoming a half-elemental.

I'm not angry, I just feel like it's almost pointless to add that about the spell which allows it, because statistically and reasonably, it will simply not happen. So it might as well not exist.

So what are the odds that a mon summoned elemental would have planeshift and you could have them cast it if you knew the words
