Eh... I can see a few sides to it. Tuluki fanatic wishing to purge the world of such abominations? Pissed off 'Nakki tired of having to share their air ontop of the famine, and firestorm, and all of the other bad shit that could be attributed to magick? Dwarf with a focus that demands maxxing the shit out of his combat skills and PKing?
Yeah, I can see it being kinda bullshit that it's justifiable to gank someone just because of their guild. Then again this is a risk any magicker player should be very well aware of, 'cause it does sort of fit the canon. All sorts of IC/OOC considerations, and there definitely is a right and wrong way to go about it.

I'm not saying it's totally out of line in every case. That said... I can't see someone who's just 'angry' deciding 'alright, boys, it's time to go smack around that power ranger, even though they've clearly been able to fuck up the world and the people in it in a way I could never dream of doing'. As to the dwarf with that focus... I think that's cheap if it's not a bit more closed-ended than that. Maybe a krathi killed his father and he's made it his goal to kill all krathis, etc etc etc, or a burglar broke in and slit his mother's throat in front of him as a child so he's made it his mind to go hunt down all burglars, but... generally speaking, someone who's focus is just to skillmax and pk? Seems like it would take more away from the game than it adds to it, and again, that's just personal opinion.
I'm not big on pk, myself. In over half a decade, I pked 1 pc. Period. And that includes my tenure on staff. Of course, my outlook on that kind of goes across the board. I'd rather see people add things to the game than take them from it. Whether it's rooms, items, npcs, plots, clans, goals, or pcs, even.

Finding mon components is about as hard as spamming 'forage artifact' in certain areas of the world, then having the component crafting skill to charge the thing.
Brief aside, I really kinda despise magickers. In a world billed as harsh and low-fantasy (which it really isn't, Arm is a high-fantasy world with pockets of low-fantasy), having flying glowing invisible PCs running around kinda destroys that notion. On top of that, I'll bet you my next paycheck that the top-tier magickers in the game have more access to staff animations than your run-of-the-mill shitcloak runner, shoveling shit in the latrines. I've been playing a very, very long time, and I always end up seeing more staff interaction with my magickers.

Also, playing a magicker is Armageddon on easy mode.

I don't know about the rest of the staff, but I always did echoes/animations fairly equally... actually... if anyone remembers the odd occasions where the sharp-eyed prostitute in the Gaj would just start doing stuff... that was me. At one point a player even hired her while animated and they wandered off into the dormitories for a FTB'd sexual adventure via change ldesc. I've seen more staff interaction with magickers of mine... all negative. People echo'd as giving disapproving looks, ignoring my pc, etc.

It really is. And heads up... you can donate a lot less than 50 mana to activate one of those items... so any magicker you run into could potentially have a magick weapon -and- magick shield of some sort tucked away. Probably something to think about before making 'mage killer pcs'. Mage killers honestly kind of annoy me because I don't get how anyone justifies that kind of death wish in a world where no one is -supposed- to be suicidal, unless it's just people out to squish 1 day played magickers, which... I think it's bad form to be out to kill any guild just because they're x guild and have little enough time played that you know you can take them. I can understand wanting to kill -specific- magickers, or -specific- anyone, Inigo Montoya's grudge style, but that's all just personal opinion, and please feel free to take it with a grain of sand/salt. i am understanding you would not approve of my view for the killing of witches. it is understood you are perferring only magic using chars for play and someone with a proficiency for the killing of favorites would be disapproved of. i do not care for people who scan without fail even when gazing into the eyes of lovers in the midst of having the sex as it is disruptive to my natural play in stealth. it is very stupid as well. it is not enjoyable to know there are those who can undo time and care invested in chars with ease. reality is not full of enjoyments. im trying to make it understood that there is no other interactions allowed by staff without critical notations and words. it is much happier to be friends or allies with full ranges of chars for everyone to have interactions and fun. this is not tolerated. gemmed are to be separate even amongst other commoners. gems are to be friends only with gems and work only for oash or themselves. other clans banned and interactions frowned at with all others by staff. ungemmed are to be secrets at all times and interact only with caves. interaction with people who are not also ungemmed and in caves is punished with disapproving words from staff as unrealistic. we are to fear and kill them or face karma sanctions. tuluk is only to interact with other tuluks. if you are not from tuluk you will be killed or banished and it is approved of by nyr and other protuluk staffs. tuluk is a favorite project of the owner of the game and becomes isolationist in regard to players. tuluks can leave tuluk to go south and face questioning but rarely ever death or exile. it is unfair but it is the will of staff, so it is. delves are to be separate in the pah. you must be soh//sr to be a delf. you must stay in the pah or luirs and cannot have interactions beyond taverns or pk with outsiders or be punished // stored. as halfelves you cannot join any clans but kurac or byn even as lowest of frowned at servant, even when many many estates and compounds and buildings have halfelf servants and slave npcs. i am knowing slaves are not acceptable because of reasons that are not existing in a logical world. halfelves cannot have interactions with others that are not negative or meet with disapproval from gdb and staff. it must be wrongful all the time. i was in room when halfelf and human were oocly chided by SOMEONE for having romances together ((not sexing but kisses and beautiful loves between hearts)) that are not documented. gypsies enjoyed special protections and gifts for long time. they were punished as sacrifice to pretend a war was started but are now being rebuilt into global super power of maximum influence against all. i am short in words for how this is handled. i cannot say more or be risking outing but from interactions they are seeming to become tuluk aligned for reasons unknown and none can explain even with inside game interactions. i do not feel the list must go on. armageddonMUD is a game not of conflict but of forced and nonsensical segregation of players. only interactions available are hostile without punishments. you must play tavern dwelling human of warrior//assassin//burglar//pickpocket//ranger//merchant to have freedom of play but is very limited. all others and independent are frowned at for lack of contributions to plots of clanns or staff and staffs favorite players. leading from this yes you will have more staff emotes if you play witches or other karma roles. there is sorcerer who receive many personal plots for getting skills//powers beyond class standards. one is becoming like QUICK but not vampire. has own staff friends to provide special treatment. he has henchmen mul with many magic benefits and receives special staff attentions in many cases. i have played with this char twice and is well played but special treatment VERY VERY clear. i believe has magic benefits because of combat damage but maybe has very good stats. both of above interact with very small pieces of players and only little handful of three to five may participate in these special plottings and benefits. it is special club for staff approved friends and favorites. it is intolerable to fairness for all. there is northern templar who is staff approved who receives many special freedoms and causes harm to players goals under guise of FORCING tuluk style of play on all players and keeping plots and player from outside of tuluk from becoming active if not from GMH clans. i cannot post log of out of char discussions but it shows staff and source of log talking about it. the log is a year old but tells many things i am glad i know but also makes me upset to know. i have no chance to play with witches or others that are not hostile. i must be hostile or i am frowned upon. i have many regrettable and unfair notes on my account. i consider starting new account and try again but am enjoying char again and do not want to surrender him. forgive me for killing your witches but i cannot interact with you in other manners except the stalking and fighting. if you are upset please understand i try to flavor all of them. i go to great effort to make correct english emotes for the actions. it is not by the seat of pants or without regard. we all must be separate for approval and conflict is controlled to violence for those not in chosen sponsor roles or have special staff favor. i am sorry.

Fearing something, and avoiding something, are not the same thing as killing something, but it's not simply because I enjoy playing mages. I don't ever, and have never, been a fan of stealth guilds, and I still think scanning as you were referring to is bad form, because it's unrealistic, the same reason I think that going out and hunting something that anything in its right mind would be afraid of would seem realistic. I'm afraid of snakes, so I don't go out looking for them, and avoid them at all costs. When one threatens me, it finds itself on the quick end of a beheading, but unless it is actively threatening me, I go out of my way to simply avoid them. You don't have to be hostile, you can also just avoid them or ignore them. You're talking about going from one end of a spectrum (friends and maybe lovers) directly to the exact opposite end (hostile to the point of going out of your way to kill).
And for what it's worth, slipshod, if you recall, I don't play anymore. It's got nothing to do with someone possibly killing a character of mine. I don't have one, and don't think I'll try and start playing again. I don't see the point in dealing with the fuss and hassle of trying to please the staff when I could just go back to working on the mud that I have actually started work on, when I am done with my hiatus from mudding, at least.
As regards desert elves, I've never heard or seen anything like that, and that makes no sense to me. Has this changed in the last six months?
As regards Qoriya (let's not beat around the bush, we both know who it is), she really ought to be promoted to High Templar and stored already. She's been ridiculous and ridiculously OP since I was on staff. It's not the player's fault, exactly, but there is too much power there, it's destroying the balance and making Tuluk unplayable. That's largely a side effect of being a Lirathan who is long-lived though.
I was monitoring her once and saw her background check a special app'd sorcerer pc who had never even cast a spell. Then take them away and pk them without any previous interaction or other RP. The special app player, of course, put in a complaint, and I felt so bad for them. Qoriya had not even let them live as a pc period long enough to cast a single spell before they were killed, even though they were a Kuraci. And yet I couldn't say anything to her because, as much as I personally hated it and thought it was something that killed plots, fun, and so on, she was/is just doing her job. Even still, I hate that that happened, just given the chance to think about it. If you're reading this... I'm sorry... that was a really shitty thing of her to do. Yes, it was her job, but she really should've at least tried to snoop you to catch you casting rather than possibly killing someone who was just delusional and thought that 'Whew, I'm magick, y'all!'

The fact that Armageddon isn't a happy-fun-love-for-everyone sort of game is what keeps me playing, as far as your points on racism and magick hate goes.

i do not mean to promote love and peace. i do not smoke the joints.
the problem arises from extreme limitations in interactions and the berating that comes out of game for what does happen naturally in game like the two lovers i spy upon who are given the scolding. a halfelf should still have clan options beyond the army in order to increase players options and opportunities for interactions. noble houses should have better options for the collection of useful witches.
many interesting opportunities for fun and strife have been cut away by unreasonable control measures. it is not productive to success.
im not to suggest we remake allanak as tiny america but that there is crippling flaws in the pursuit of interactions and enjoyment that are needless and extreme. a game world that insists upon itself at the expense of player enjoyment is flawed.

I think it's pretty simple though....
If you don't want to be limited in clan options, don't pick races or guilds that are limited in such ways.
You pretty much subject yourself to such limitations by choice at character generation.
I do agree that a human and half-elf relationship that naturally took course shouldn't be punished though.

The fact that this has been going on for so long and there was an entire structure in place that promotes this type of gameplay is absolutely god awful and shows serious incompetence at a high level. The most fucked up thing imo is that this kind of thing has happened since Lirathans have been around (12 years?) yet it was deus ex machina'd out of the game within 8 months of these boards popping up and actual discussion about how it's a fucking stupid idea and mechanic was put out there by us. It was a discussion that the Arm playerbase (not individual players giving their two cents) should have had with staff on the GDB but of course ~IC INFO~ trumps any real progress being made for players to talk about how they feel about how things are run.

Yeah. It definitely stung when I had my second vivaduan ever get Qoriya'd...but she at least got 2-3 days played, and had a chance to cast a few spells, etc. That didn't bother me so much as watching someone's special app'd pc die that way.

First of all. Why the fuck would you ever step foot in Tuluk as a magicker or sorcerer? Seriously that is just asking to get killed.

I'm sorry sir, but any player worth his/her salt as a mage of any element would wreck your shit.
I've never played a drovian because I never had an idea that jumped out at me, but one could easily blind/curse you, then wreck you with two sul elementals.
Magick in Armageddon should be feared.
