Do any mounts have special features, like a bonus to sneak or hide or climb? Also, how do those skills work while mounted? Or don't they?

There used to be a few but I think they took most of it out. Sunbacks used to be able to use their tails in combat. They took that out. I think there were lizards the halflings used that you could mount and use 'hide' and it would hide with you.

this is one thing that really chaps my ass about arm there are all these different sorts of mounts from gwoshi to erdlu to horses to gnu and aurochs but the only ones that will ever see use (unless you want to be a special little snowflake) are beetles and inix there dont seem to be any difference in any of them except for stamina and speed and in the vast majority of cases outlasting is better than outrunning

I keep thinking their might be something special with magickal mounts. Someone was commenting how they were able to dual wield and ride at the same time with them as a magicker. I know for a fact you can't do this without being a half-elf, ranger, or riding subguild.
Either that or they had godspeed and/or quickness which might allow them an additional ability to ride properly.Maybe they were only wielding magickal weapons, they allow casting, maybe they allow riding too?

Erdlus are fucking useless. They really need to fix them. Erdlus were kind of badass on Darksun and no they didn't have the stamina of a a kank (nothing had the stamina of a kank), but they would fight with you in combat. Inix were great on DS because they could carry the most weight of any mount BUT they ate everything in sight. Mounts should have to eat in order to keep up their strength. If an inix didn't get 10 feet of foraging ground every hour during a 24 hour period they would just stop moving and not carry you or your shit anymore.

Sounds more like you need to work on your 'facts'. Either state how to do it without being a race or guild as mentioned or using spells like Hardboiled said, or don't post.

You do it by rolling up a human warrior and getting to the point where you van ride dual wielding things anyway. I know I could.

Human warrior cannot dual wield while riding unless you've chosen some ride boosting subguild such as mercenary, maybe nomad, I forget the rest.

CRabbit is correct, kind of. You can by the durrit-hide riding gloves they give enough of a bonus to allow dual wield riding regardless of subguild.

Well, if anything, now you know you can get potentially Nyred or shitlisted here for not mentioning obvious shit to veteran players who never bother to use the 'ride' skill with anything that isn't a breed or a ranger. God forbid if this guy really wanted 'gith sekritz' from Delerak! If you can't post without being snarky about a video game then maybe this isn't the place for you.

I've both had and seen warriors with riding boots AND riding gloves and they just cannot dual wield while riding no matter how much they train. Drunken dwarf who had one of the longest lived warriors in recent memory (that i know at least) basically confirmed that in the GDB. Maybe he can comment on this again here. However it is not the first time I've heard this, its just I haven't actually seen it in recent times. Perhaps the gloves were changed/nerfed or it is an agility thing. I have no idea but i do wish there were more ways to actually ride, so if someone can correct me with full confirmation then so be it, I'd be glad to put it to use. The ways I listed above are sure ways to get your character to ride at least.

Could be agility.. the guy I had that could do it was a dwarf with exceptional agility though. That's not that high for humans. It could also be that he never fought in combat. You have to fight mounted to raise your ride skill to branch trample and max it then wear the riding gloves.

The characters I'm thinking about were seasoned fighters on mounts or otherwise so it can't be a matter of skill, they all had trample. Just because they sucked didn't mean they didn't still fight mounted by wielding their secondary weapon when combat started. I'm thinking it might be agility, I'll test it out one of these days.

I thought I saw someone riding that moss-covered war beetle before. What are the tame chances for a max ride ranger on things like inix and ox. Do you need to RP with staff to get that beetle or gnu?
