The one in the krath temple just just slept and cast constantly. lol, this is what like every mage does when they think nobody is looking and what happens when you have a system that directly correlates skill levels to grinding.

Most of the mages I've seen spam cast thinking its improving them. When if they were aware of the timers they'd know they are just wasting their time.

And I report all the players I see doing it.

When I played my drovian way back, we tried that trick using a whiran to follow us and they were unable to get in, so I fail to see how a burglar could.

From what I'm understanding, some temple barriers prevent others, some dont. I do remember drovian temple barriers blocking off the followers. I also remember some Jaxa Pah chick 2-3 years ago or so, bragging how she shadowed some Krathi inside and killed him.

Some of the temple designs are newer than others. And yeah, their codes are different.

Krathis regen in higher heat, with an added bonus under the sun when its at its highest.
Vivaduans regen when there is a lot of life/living things around, so gardens, the grey, etc.

Also that Krathi gate may be Nilaz too, that might be a typo.

Also a long time ago someone seemed to hint that different places/weather restore magick faster like Elkrosians in a sandstorm, stuff like that? Anyone know if this is true, and the extents of it? Yeah it's definitely true and can make a huge difference. The highest regen I think is in temples. Highest regens by class are Whirans - > High winds Rukkians -> Caves/underground Elkrosians -> Sandstorms Drovians -> Darkness Nilazi -> 'Stillness/no winds' Vivaduans -> Krathi -> ? Actually, afaik, the best place to cast for (most) classes is the Grasslands. This is because it has the highest life value, which is a big determining factor for most of the classes. It is, however, pretty dangerous and not really recommended. Krathi = heat, I believe. Salt Flats are the best place for a krathi to roll, insane regen. Bring lots of water. edit: canyons of waste are pretty good too Nilazi... well, I don't know if it still works BUT: cast portal gate. Go inside. Your mana will regen stupidly quickly. Make sure you get out before the gate closes or you'll suffocate. In the good old days before a certain someone maxed a Nilazi in like 3 days played, you could spamcast in there indefinitely. Alas. Note that sandstorms fuck regen for basically all classes by Elkrans, Whirans included (high wind and life is good though). And temple regen kind of sucks compared to being in your class' "ideal environment".

Is spam casting really frowned upon?
I don't know. If I was in a harsh desert world, possessed magick which meant those who didn't want to see me gemmed wanted me dead - and I knew I could unlock more powerful casting words through practice, I'd practice as much as possible. Though yeah. Sleeping to regen faster is petty lame.

Is the drovian's shadow sword a slashing weapon? It'd be boss as shit with aggessor. What does haunt do?

Yaar, it's slashing.
Haunt is sort of like a cursed ghost that follows the target around and blinds/casts curse on them. If I remember right, that's what it does anyways. It's been a long time.
Sorta like the whiran version if you're familiar with that.

Does empower require any components at mon?
Are there any spells that can kill people from afar?

Damn it's been so long...empower is the krathi spell?
Yeah, use a large shard of obsidian and a bit of sapphire to make a mon component.
Two ranged combat spells are lightning spear and fire seed. Both are boss.

The empower krathi at mon requires a skull of some sort, humanoid also I think besides the sapphire embedded blade.
