.. if you want to truly understand the kind of devestation an underground community can cause, and the kind of benefits it can reap for itself ICly, even in a game that's not got IC enforcement, I joined the gooncorp shortly before the admins shut hellmoo down entirely, I got to see the kinds of silly policies people acted on... and, a lot of people I was working with got banned, then they shut the whole fucking game down for a while. I've seen it from the inside, it's not new to me, nor is the outside... let's call it, a very eye-opening experience.

Sorry you got banned. Everyone suffers when a contributing member of the game gets banned.

Yeah... look, I'm no fucking saint, and yeah, I bent and broke rules, but I always respected the concept of IC and tried to keep shit legit... and after years, I slowly began to realize, maybe, I was the only one who sincerely gave a fuck about the rules... to those who don't, congrats on keeping your images straight.

the underground "moral majority" of Arm, you know, there's the anti-sex league, the homophobic legion, and let's not forget the people who hate the color yellow. What about the "Mister/Miss" Jihad?

I have a new guy in my office today named Patrick.
I am sitting here and I can hear him a few feet away talking to someone else. I sit there for a bit thinking, "He sounds like someone but I can't place who this guy sounds like.".
Then it hits me. Patrick, sounds EXACTLY like Patrick Swayze.
In order to not think I'm just imagining this I quietly email my manager:
"Hey, listen to Patrick without looking at him and tell me who you hear.".
I sit there for a minute and get back:
"Holy crap, this guy sounds exactly like Patrick Swayze.".
Finally I can't take it and I stand up and I'm like, "Hey Patrick, has anyone ever told you that you sound like someone famous?".
He starts laughing and he's like, "Oh no, it has started already. Do you want me to say nobody puts Baby in the corner? It is a common request.".
I absolutely lose it. It is far more funny to me than it should be.
My laughter becomes infectious and now everyone around is laughing as they now realize it as well.
The fact the guy is actually named Patrick and sounds like Patrick Swayze is just too much gold for me to handle.
I make friends with Patrick and get him to do a couple of Road House quotes.
Today was a good day and the perfect end to a week.

I picked up the game Terraria over my long weekend. I'm having a good time with it. It's a cute little game with a lot of little details and fun gameplay. I think it cost me $10. Do recommend.
It is also surprisingly large. I picked a large map. I dug down for a good long while. Found some natural caves. Went even deeper. Digging and digging.
I think I must be close to the bottom of the "map" at this point.
Then I figure out how to zoom in and out to see the available space. (The areas you haven't explored are "blacked out", but you can see how much further you can potentially go.)
I realize even after all of this digging and exploring, I have explored maybe 2% of the world and can still go down into the earth about 20X deeper than I currently am.
Wow.

Terraria's pretty fantastic. It's also very addictive. The only reason I am able to play other games is I burned out my Terraria receptors from multiple overdoses.

I really like the archery changes. I have been saying for years that it never made sense that you can learn to shoot a bow by using a sling etc. Very nice.
Now if we could just do away with that ridiculous arrow in Salarr's archery shop that is one foot long. It makes me mad every time I see it.

Speaking of Terraria.... Starbound is pretty good as well. As an added bonus, there are some good Starbound RP servers out there. Basically plays like a tabletop, but using the game as a board/for positioning/etc. Here's the one I play at, if anyone is the least bit interested in what is basically the RPI of Starbound RP community: www.starboundserenity.com/forum

Nessalin from the new brew code thread:
I am going to state this exactly once: You do not get to decide how staff spend their time. Staff are not your bitch. When you state this or even imply it your entire post becomes something to ignore by myself and likely other staff members.
If your outsize sense of self-entitlement makes this seems like a valid argument to bring up I suggest you invest your time in other games and other communities.
All I'm going to say is....not acceptable. Not professional, not acceptable. If anything I agree, the correct path was that it should have been ignored instead of going this path. Not acceptable.

It's like a boardgame but where the DM is really sensitive to directional commentary. THIS GAME IS FOR ME! NOT FOR YOU! IT IS FOR ME FUCK YOU! I'M A VOLUNTEER! So are the players willing to play with you man, so are the players. The dynamic story simply isn't without footsteps. If you want a linear style progression which you have complete artistic control/freedom, that's called writing a book. Edit: It looks like the first post from Nessalin was regarding the new arm. No wonder he's so sensitive about where staff (isn't actually) spending time

I'm just disappointed. Not upset. Just disappointed.
I've said repeatedly that it is responsible and professional to recognize that some of your team simply aren't meant to perform certain jobs/functions. One of those functions is interacting with your client base/customer base.
Some people aren't meant for that role. It doesn't mean you can't contribute in other ways magnificently, but, some people just aren't meant to do every job and shouldn't be allowed to.
This is a prime example of that.
Basic leadership and team management 101.

I'll take Nessalin's sentiment one step further and recommend that everyone, regardless of their opinion, invest your time in other games and other communities. When your hours, blood, sweat, and tears ultimately boil down to being the validation for this code-monkey child and his sycophants in his own little god-complex... It's all wasted. Spend your time doing something else.

I just can't get myself to play CS:GO competitively. Played a ton of 1.6 back in college but now the only game I go hard in is Rocket League.
