I, too, have had to deal with this, Purg, in the Byn, no less. Each time it seems like a cheap, win at any cost tactic. I've found, when locating the win at any cost mindset, the only proper solution is to meet like with like and dispose of them at the earliest opportunity. If you can't, weasel your way out of the situation and find another one until you can.

That's too bad for Arm, Jellywho. IF you're who I think you are, you played some of the more lively, whimsical characters that kept shit interesting. Since I'm basically done with Arm... Well, my name is how it sounds for my GDB handle, if you say it funny enough. My last character fucked some shit up with Oash and got murderedled really hard. It was kinda funny. Dodged like four mon spells, well I resisted them. Good time. Feel bad for the family thing I'm in because I lost all will to play. Rip |

I thought the Hostess was supposed to "teach", not push off everything to the other PC / NPCs and continually act schizophrenic. You know, considering I might actually have needed some real lessons to deal with this accursed environment. I distinctly remember Case making things up about how my character acted virtually, how she was doing horrible in classes that I hadn't even attended (because I was having problems matching playing times to meet her to attend these classes), all the while sending me shockingly mixed signals OOCly and ICly. To say it was a put-off is an understatement; where Nyr's disregard of the game environment didn't phase me to the point of quitting, it was Case getting away with something on the same level as the Red Meanie himself that truly killed my love for the game. How do you deal with that? Someone just making up your virtual actions and then punishing you for it? It'd be like your Sergeant cracking down on your Runner for slacking off, when you've done absolutely nothing of the sort ICly. Perhaps that cannibal Borsail Lord was sabotaging me? If so, nobody ever knew -- Case was so well at playing her cards to her chest and speaking out both sides of her mouth that it seemed like both a meta-grudge and a severe failure of playing the role. I resent it when others take the agency of my character and make them do things virtually -- it's not about bold-faced lying, because it breaks the integrity of the game world. How am I supposed to respond to that ICly? "Oh Hostess, look at all of the virtual students around -- surely they can vouch for me," and then relying on a staff animation that will absolutely not happen due to who I am? It just cemented in my mind that Armageddon is for the clique oldbies, and I should have known better than posting in the Atrium forum with my main handle to give Case a target to ruin with her new-found sponsored role. I was going to put in a player complaint, but a full moon rose and Nergal's true form of a Minecraft admin came out to ban me. I know we don't see eye to eye here but Case does have a reputation as an emotionally manipulative vampire. She's also been known to play the OOC game so watch as she'll try to tap you for ic info. Beware if she's running your clan. Woe betide you if she's on your friends list. |

I know Case has had the opportunity to wreck my characters at times and doesn't like me one bit, yet she wouldn't take those opportunities... so while it may be my own anecdotal and limited experience, she doesn't seem to be limited to playing emotionally manipulative vampires, which makes me skeptical of the possible implication that she habitually does this. I'm inclined to think it's a flaw in some of her characters, and that it's all IC.

But yeah, without further evidence, speculation upon recent events is a kind of murky area. I know these boards are run by rinth rules, but it might be a good idea to just let it play out. Paranoid speculation can escalate and snowball, particularly if mob mentality sinks in. Just my views, you're free to take them or leave them as you feel necessary.

I'm glad to see that the staff are currently open-minded enough to allow for such a schizophrenic character trait in a sponsored role; in the recent past, they've been keen on cracking down on what'd be called "unique" playstyles -- see Grumble's Salarri.

Well, in their defence, I sorta /did/ haul ass out the gates loudly proclaiming that I was going to be a salty skimmer captain. They did give me the chance to turn back, buuuut, I was like, 'cmon! This'll be fun! Newp. Still kinda bristly about that, Purg, but I can kinda see why they did it, even if I don't agree with it.
EDIT: But thanks for sticking up for me nonetheless. Not to sound ungrateful for it.

Upon further reflection, what I should have done was go back as urged, and pitched the idea as my shot at redemption, to remove myself from the situation in Allanak, increase Salarr's business in RSV, and bring in valuable horror shells.

I'm inclined to guess that for whatever it is, it's supposed to be IC. I can say that Dazielle is why I won't be seeking to play anything in the future that's part of the Atrium until the character is gone. I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with the OOC. I can say that it's because I genuinely OOCly had a miserable time during the limited time I spent around her. To imply that it's ooc isn't fair. But at the same time, I dislike her as a character in the general sense, so... I'm biased. No plan to speak of it on a public forum in more detail than that though.
