Really though, why wouldn't it make sense for a bunch of 'Rinthers to gank some dude riding in on a kank?
For one, there's a kank. That's food.
For two, there's a guy with a kank. That's money.

How did you get the kank into the rinth? That'd be pretty cool riding around, outrunning all the npcs.

My memory is hazy but you used to be able to subdue mounts and throw them in a direction. This is back when it wasn't war beetles and inix which would eat you alive unarmed. kanks weren't that tough and I could bare hand kill them so I subdued the thing and did throw kank <north> on hathors. Then went in and rode it around.
Gimme a break guys I was like 17 and had no idea what I was doing. I was more of a play tester than an actual roleplayer.

One time there was an independent dwarf pc that was on an account that'd only been in play for a few months. Their focus was to become a magicker. They hired the Byn, asked about the gem and how to make them after being swindled into thinking that the gem -made- you a magicker. Paid for information (someone told them it took 'the blood of the strongest gith' to do it, so they even hired the Byn to kill the gith and bring the corpse in). It was truly a joy to watch them play, even though I knew they'd never achieve their focus. Because everything that they did went toward it, and they were full of thinks and feels, and solo emoted 24/7 as though being watched (I was watching them nearly 24/7, so that was fun). One day, dying of thirst, they got lost outside Nak. They died outside the cave with the pool in it, of thirst, for not knowing that the water was there. I came in and animated their little erdlu trying to nuzzle them back conscious. It was the saddest thing. I have no idea, to this day, who they even might be on the boards, if they've started playing again, but I gave them karma 2 for how well they played out that death scene and everything before the animation as well, and for how many people they got involved in their focus, and the sheer depth of their racial roleplay. And then sent them a note when they died, telling them I was sorry to see them die and hoped they could enjoy their magicker now, even though the dwarf's death was a massive shame. It is the only pc death I ever watched from upstairs that made me cry. What really saddened me afterward was that a couple weeks into playing their unmanifested ruk, they simply quit playing.

Wow that's really cool. I wouldn't be surprised and I would definitely put my money on him having been a long time player that made the account. You would be surprised at how many alt accounts are made by old players that simply want to enjoy the game and not have to deal with staff turning their noses up at them wanting to return to "their" game that they "volunteer" to staff and fund.

I can say that Arm MUD has its pros and cons. I have had no issues whatseover while playing even when my characters where into the whole Murder, Betrayal and Corruption (and they still are). It seems Staff approves when people work within the rules, even when they are bending or breaking some of these rules as long as you RP like your life depended on it and involve others in said Role Play.

It seems entirely possible, if not even somewhat likely. As to the generally entitled attitude of staff, inorite, if you don't want to be doing what you're volunteering for, maybe don't volunteer. >.>

i worked on an mmo for a while and loved being able to do events for players. the first one i did was a kobold siege on a tutorial town and even though new chars could kill dozens of kobolds high lvl players in nice gear with spell effects arrived to "save" them.
the girl i worked with joined me and we spawned some larger boss monsters ((regular monsters but high lvl to act as bosses)) and players organized to have high lvl people charge through the kobolds and fight big things and hoards of newbie chars ran out to kill off the kobolds. it was a lot of fun to organize and do for them and the forums were VERY VERY happy with praises.
we were not supposed to do events unannounced though ((paying customers sometimes complain if they miss fun events that are not announced and it is in reason i think)). the next time i organized with other gms to hold a siege on another factions tutorial town i made announcement and many many high lvl people arrived and stealed the show from the new players it was meant to encourage to keep playing.
i was personally given harsh words for poor organization of the event even though everyone still left happy. i had spawned two bone dragons in a clearing to busy the high lvls ((bone dragons were VERY rare spawns with .5% chance to spawn in one instance with week long timers. they carry a best in slot items for all classes so they are a VERY VERY big deal)) and rewarded my favorite leader player with a week of free play time to "lead" the newbies against the swarms of swamp rats ((that factions kobold equal for the area)) and a giant rat boss from second progressive instance to give them a challenge. he did a very good job and RPd fully even when no one else was and got some others to join him which was really fun to watch.
this would happen often that no matter how i organized with my peers to make interesting events, our leader would find fault and send us scolding mails and even phone calls sometimes. i wanted to keep enjoying and doing for players but because disheartened by being told NO, WRONG, DO BETTER by higher ups and stopped wanting to do events.
the players who were happy to have events became upset that there were fewer events and blamed i and my peers while community moderators made lies and excuses and apologized for OUR failure to meet their desires.
i stayed on and worked answered questions and fixed problems. i did not need the monies but i loved the idea of my job so i stayed even when i couldnt do what i wanted to do and became bitter. the entire time being abused for not doing what they told me to do but not in the way that makes players happy and RAH! very upsetting.
what i want to put across is some of the attitudes they ((staff)) hold may be from similar experience of wanting it to be like before or do it their way but cannot even if it would be better. sometimes you hold onto things that are not what you want them to be but still the closest you will get to what you want.
even upset and bitter, remembering when it was better and the hope you can go back to that time makes people do things that no longer make them happy, sometimes for very long times. sometimes that sadness comes out against others who do not deserve it, but cannot take it back because of pride and station.
i hope i am understood.

it was an upstart mmo from korea that translated to english at DEMON FIGHTING WARRIORS. we were talked of on gamespot but i cannot find link with google. i will search old data drives, i still have old content i believe. to understand many mmos from asia you must see that many share engine and code and assets. it is not like world of warcraft that is dedicated to being the only one of its kind. our game was dismantled as not profitable enough because of generation restrictions ((our director did not tolerate suggesting content and many players want content with exposed female bodies)) and staffs transferred to other games. girl i talked about in my earlier post is now working on DRAGON NEST and is happy with her place now. im very happy for her she was a kind woman. very cute too!! old boss is now working for EUSHULLY which makes games of quality erotics. it is humorous because he complained it was PEOPLE LIKE US to stop him from becoming director of console game making and now he tells people if their pictures of spermy vaginas is of inspection quality! it was a fun game and a place of learning for me but it did not last long. many gamers in asia migrate to the next new thing very quickly and like many before and after us we did not compete long. i become frustrated thinking of our difficulties and how better leadership could have changed the course of the game but i know it is of irrelevance now. even had everyone spoken of it then ((and many took the abuse and failure in silence, player and employees both)), those in power do not see their error until the damage is completed. the error is always on lesser people because of feelings of superiority and fear of admitting to failures. key to modern mmos: freedom of actions, ease of play ((few players want challenge, just loot!!!)) and boobies. boobies cannot be overstated in the importance of gaming. women gamers want to have big bare ones on their chars and men want to look at them. i laugh but it is not out of good humor but at the dying spirit of competition.

I wish people would stop referring to Red Fangs as "clan solely dedicated to raiding" because they're not. Anyone who has read the documentation knows that they are about survival and trade as much as raiding.

I wish people would stop referring to Red Fangs as "clan solely dedicated to raiding" because they're not. Anyone who has read the documentation knows that they are about survival and trade as much as raiding. While I understand this, largely in part because of the several months of IC interactions my whiran had with them, I can understand how someone who did not have any kind of interaction with them that showed their other facets might be subject to this misconception.
