I love the new topic name, but what inspired it? It's okay, you're banned anyway. Remember? And bans are impossible to circumvent, making them excellent choices of disciplinary tools. * Jeshin has slain staff policy with a CRITICAL SNARKING . R.I.P. , amen* fixed cause i saw it way too many times lol

Here, let me help you nooblet backstabbers, assuming they haven't changed THIS too, in response to 'oh shit that's too cool'.
>backstab person
you stab them viciously they reel from the blow!
disengage; backstab person
dun dun dun. Enjoy your new toy. Though you obviously must be able to survive the first set of lag. :]
Edit to say: It's not the most efficient kill method in the plethora of things you can do, I'll admit. But it's fun to accomplish midcombat and watch a bunch of people start wtfin'.

Nope. If you backstab someone and start a fight with them...sure, YOU can disengage. But they'll still be attacking you which means you'll immediately start attacking them back the first time they attack you. This might work if they don't get a single attack the entire time you: get to sit out your backstab lag (10-15 seconds), disengage, re-initiate the backstab and sit through THAT lag (2-6 seconds?) before your backstab actually goes off. You could flip that nosave flag (what is it...nosave combat?) that prevents you from automatically attacking someone when you are attacked..but I still question, code wise, if you can backstab someone that's attacking you, even if you're not attacking them. Also...backstabbing someone in combat has an EXTREMELY high failure rate, regardless of what your backstab skill is at (a great way to grind up the skill, kids! backstab targets that someone else is already fighting! same thing works for sap).

If someone reels, they lose combat until they're attacked again. So you can set up a trigger to disengage and then backstab again because technically you are not in combat.

Huh. I did not know that about the reel code. Kinda makes my arguments obsolete. :} On a side note - I don't like the reel code.

I just want to say for a while now I've thought Nergal is an arrogant douche-bag who is full of shit. I think I was one of the first to point that out, though I am not sure since I couldn't have been the only one that noticed him after Nyr went into hiding.
Of course some sheep defended him by saying he was 'not that bad'. However, every time I read Nergal's posts I feel vindicated in my belief.

Two recent quotes from Negral
This is just two, his latest one about closing the RAT is yet another. His posts always sound so arrogant and condescending...I don't even know if snark is the right word anymore. I mean lot of people like the RAT. I actually didn't but a lot of people did and this idiot decides to explain it in without any hint of compassion or understanding.
Like he is jerking off at the fact he knows this is pissing some members of the community off and he is just rubbing it in, showing everyone who is boss.
Every single post this guy makes leaves me with this same feeling, its not like I always disagree with what he is saying, something about the way he expresses himself comes off as a douche-bag. The first time I noticed was in the thread discussing the sub-guild changes and the changes to combat.

The Nyr school of staffing. Treat players like trash in order to feel superior and validated.

Evading my ban with the ease of a 25 second google search for a proxy... I went ahead and did a little test. I organized the general discussion by thread views. You can always tell the interest level of a thread from the views (more so than replies). It's interesting to note the highest threads are OOC in nature and involve community sharing and involvement. As I noted in the shoutbox, text-based games are maintained via their community participating in group activities together. Notice the 2 highest threads are also locked?

It has long been obvious that Armageddon's admins occasionally crack down on any fun that they notice players having without staff's involvement. It's more like a kind of gesture or statement made to remind players that they're under staff's thumb and need to toe the party line, which might be okay if the playerbase had been excessively unruly and problematic. The issue is that these power displays have been completely unwarranted and unprovoked, stemming from a power hunger that came with Nyr and stayed after his departure because he picked people like him when hiring new staff.

There must be a clause somewhere in staff documentation that says a minimum of 3 utter and complete knobs must be on the staffing team at any given time.
I challenge the GDB community to make a post asking players if they approve or disapprove of thread locking. Ask it there. See what kind of attention it gets. And see how quickly it gets locked (or miraculously doesn't).
