A quick background on this. So when I got burned bad by staff around '03-04 I went and posted this thread at wizards of the coast forums under the 'Darksun' category. community.wizards.com/forum/other-published-worlds/threads/866916Granted I was pissed, but I was genuinely concerned for Arm at the time as I had recently acquired permission to use Darksun Intellectual Property from WOTC. It took me 4 months, many phone calls, and a lot of headache but I got it. What is truly amusing now is that people thought I posted this to shutdown Arm so I could steal the players for my own Arm since I also stole the Arm code. So first I never had the Arm code. Second I never cared to steal Arms players as most of them are assholes and pkillers. I wanted the pbase that Arm decided to ban instead of talk to because I knew what it was like. So as you can see in that thread, I post it 4 years goes by and I end up coming back to play some arm, the staff discover the thread and ban me, I was playing a big time leader for a big time clan at the time and I just up and disappeared and I felt terrible for many of the players involved in my plots. This is what hurts Arm, the fact that they just banned me because of this instead of talking to me. The e-mail sanvean sent me is below: Delerak/Agony/RunningMountain According to the following thread it is clear you are still as malicious as ever toward Armageddon. I am banning you permanently. Oh. Even more hilarious was the pathetic attempt for some of Arms players to come to the WOTC forums and actually insult/debase me. It basically blows up in their face and the entire Darksun fanbase over there sided with me that Arm is a complete Darksun rip off.  |

No idea. Why ban me? What exactly does the ban accomplish? Of course I wanted wotc to investigate Arm they were STEALING Darksun IP. What the fuck don't you understand about that?

Haha. No but you prove my point that it is petty and vindictive to ban someone for seeking out the welfare of your gambling club. Going to the police is a way for me to make sure you're not going to get shot one night by some crazy cracked out gambler. No?

Looking at it from the Arm perspective, they probably thought you were someone acting out of anger and vengeance, trying to get them shut down. How were they to know that you were looking out for their best interests.

Good luck with that. When I made the thread I was angry at the staff though. You can read my posts and see that. That's why I never edited anything. I had sent emails to WOTC previously in private the only reason I posted a public thread to address the problem was because I was angry that Darksun wasn't getting it's due credit. All they have to do is put Armageddon MUD based off Darksun on their website and I will be happy but they don't. Arm has always peddled this bullshit story that they are this original setting and that the players are so great that they have all come up this great "work of art". It makes me want to vomit.
They stole the Darksun theme and setting plain and fucking simple. That is all.

Hah. Yeah, Sanvean totally made an ass out of herself in that thread. It was awesome to read. And yeah...completely vindictive to ban you for that...especially 4 years after the fact. But hey...Welcome to Armageddon!

Sanvean always had good intentions. She always kinda 'fought' for me when Nessalin just wanted to perm ban me. The problem is on this issue: I AM RIGHT. I know I'm right and the people who deny it are just in denial themselves over the fact that 90% of Armageddons content comes from Darksun copyright/intellectual property. This is unfortunate but we cannot deny this fact.

Also yes I was pissed when I made the thread but I have always harped on Arm for not securing permission to use Darksun Intellectual property. This is nothing new from me. There are posts from me as Exodus/Daniel on the HyperNews GDB saying the SAME thing.
I didn't make any malicious comments, Arm IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE a Darksun rip-off!

I don't dispute that fact. However with WoTC shutting down Arm, there are certain laws (if they where smart to use them as a disclaimer) that allow these MUDs to exist from an IP as long as it is not making money. That's how there are MUDs that are straight from DnD like Forgotten Realms one and LOTS of more MUD's based on existing IP. The things is the majority do mention DnD inspirations and such and Arm hardly does so despite being a rip off. WoTC will definitely sue them if they even attempt to make money out of it. It won't be an immediate close as these things take time in court to be dealt with. |
