You have to realize something. Of all these Star Wars muds, D&D, or whatever, the companies are so huge that they really only care if the people behind it is making some serious cash. Otherwise they don't care.
I however am a very prudent man. I don't work on something for years and then get blind sided by copyrights/IP. Not my style. I get permission from the owners before I even put pen to paper if you will. It's only smart to do that. To continue otherwise is just ignorant. Or arrogance.

Actually, for some time the mud WAS making money off of Darksun by selling coffee mugs, t-shirts, etc. IIRC

Actually, for some time the mud WAS making money off of Darksun by selling coffee mugs, t-shirts, etc. IIRC They claimed 'supposedly' that what they were selling was the name/icon Armageddon with the symbol it has in the website. That was their claim. Whether its true or not I don't know. |

Meh. They never made money off the game. The cost to run the server alone is where it would have gone but yes selling the logo on stuff isn't very prudent if they are trying to avoid WoTC noticing them.
