So how's the actual game doing? I thought about trying it. imgur.com/a/J1PAYbwLest anyone say I'm unfair. Don't ask me to do bb code, I'm on my phone. š

Lot of pronouns and context that's missing!
Did you say this? Who is 'he'? Who is 'she'? Involved in the development of what (figured this is UD but idk)? What drama?

It's much easier for me to understand the dynamic of RPI communities when I view them as, essentially, junkies who are willing to overlook a lot of shit to get that next hit.
It'd be an easy fix for sure.
FWIW, I'm not going to participate in it for the reasons that I brought up and for the reasons that Ask brought up.
Migrant mounting a wall of text defense is now probably 50% of the reason as well.
I'm not willing to pour my energy into helping to flesh out the project of someone who has shit stacking up against him.
Also his season character that I played around was so spam crafty and intensely boring/clearly erp focused that I can't imagine him being a particularly good writer.

Does nobody have anything whatsoever to say about the actual game itself? I'm considering trying it, but since it's invite-only and you have to apply for the right to play at all, I'm not gonna bother if it has like eight players.

I would say try it, but if you need to remember that LidlessEye and CalmThyPalm are playing it. Also EliteJarod and some of the other outspoken Arm community/silage pit

I think it's worth giving a try. Rune listens to feedback and quickly implements it. He has a pretty low tolerance for drama and I do think he'll step on things like what happened with DoublePali. Disclaimer is that I had a bit of a hand in the early development, but took a step away when I was super burned out on MUD stuff and drama (nothing involving UD). I currently have a character but the main reason I'm not playing is because I'm currently playing a different mud.

The player count seems to roughly be around where Armageddon was when it closed. It's hard to definitively say anything non-anecdotally because the game doesn't use the MSSP protocol to report player stats in a public-facing way, which is so easy to implement that I always find it a little suspicious when MUDs don't bother to do it.
Aside from that, there's nothing remarkable to say about the game besides what's already been said. Try it if you want to play another RPI with the lightweights of the Armageddon player base running/ruining everything. Getting an invite code is relatively easy and does not require committing to playing a character right away, so you can apply and decide later.

I was hoping for some actual information, not "just try it out" or "the creator is an alright guy." Given the unusual level of exclusiveness that defines this game (having to not only apply for a character but also ask for permission to join the community in the first place), it would be nice to hear what the game is actually like. It's enough of a barrier of entry that I won't bother unless I can get an idea of what's in store.
I'll admit that part of my puzzlement stems from the fact that after four pages of discussion, nobody has even slightly touched upon the nature of the game itself. Not a word about the storytelling, the features, the style of roleplay and gameplay. It's peculiar to me. Launching an invite-only RPI is enough of an oddity in its own right that it warrants asking if this obstacle does in fact result in a higher standard or a healthier community.

Untold Dawn is a futuristic sci-fi game on a new planet. So essentially you are gaining the fantastical elements of future tech with the gritty danger of an untamed/uncivilized world.

Launching an invite-only RPI is enough of an oddity in its own right that it warrants asking if this obstacle does in fact result in a higher standard or a healthier community. It's because there's nothing remarkable to say. The documentation is extremely sparse. There are hardly any help files. As a result, the characters fit a jumble of themes that venture towards "vaguely colonial sci-fi". The players are obviously winging it based off of a relative lack of direction from staff and the game world. The style is very DIY, make your own fun or don't have any at all, like Armageddon was. The style of writing employed by players is mostly Armageddon-esque. The code is still barebones. They just added food yesterday. It's a game that launched into alpha a week ago because Armageddon closed and there was no time to scoop up players like the present. All anyone can honestly say is that it's an Armageddon-style RPI filled with Armageddon players so manage your expectations accordingly. The game hasn't been publicly open long enough for anyone to form an opinion beyond that. It's a sandbox game that hasn't been filled with sand yet.

I think Rune is kind of treading water right now, but proving you can run a RPI with three or four staffers. I sincerely hope none of the Arm former staff become staff on UD, it would kind of crystalize what misgivings I have about its community. I personally have not bothered to make a character yet, so my advice was to do so and check the game out simply because I have no ability to give an accurate portrayal of how it is 'on the ground'.

Isn't Rune former Arm staff?
