There are some staff that got fired due to abusing their power. But ironically, most of those were never actually complained about by others. They got caught on their own.
Nessalin is actually a pretty objective and level headed guy, 'when' he is not directly involved. Observe an event where others are involved and he will try to be fair to all parties. Emotionally detached, but objective.
The moment he is one of the parties. It's crush, kill, destroy. Kind of amusing to observe.
But yes. It takes some seriously blatant shit to get fired. Shrug. It's a volunteer positions and the pool to draw new staff is a limited one. Work with what you got.
It's fun to watch how there are two players who are very likely ooc colluding, but never serious enough to be certain, or do anything about. Then one of these players goes staff. Half a month later, the other player is shitting bricks about the others staffer.
I guess it's a defensive mechanism. Nobody likes being "judged". And the karma system facilitates that you are being constantly judged. Which creates at atmosphere where if a staffer gives even tiny way to get misconstrued, the players blow up into raging shit fest.

All of the 'evidence' presented can be falsified, and the procedures needed to verify information pertaining to the alleged incident, would require a gross violation of multiple parties privacy, as well as a tier of talent far above what the anti/pro arm community is capable of producing, even if either 'side' could be considered credible enough to present it in an unbiased fashion. Neither side is, imo. Ultimately, nobody has "evidence", just some conjecture based upon assumption that what they 'think' is right, because it suits their narrative. And I rather doubt, anyone here has either the skills, or the pocket book, to afford someone with the skills, to ever clear the air on the matter... which, I'd assume, makes it a raging success, no? Game successfully smeared, staff successfully smeared, people both for and against the state of the game have and continue, to make asses of themselves over it, and nobody is really left holding the bag. Even the op, ultimately, probably wouldn't have been banned, had he not unloaded on staff over this hot mess of a topic. Lots of drama, lots of bad feels all around, all of it very public, and "kait" just disappears into the digital ether, without any measured of accountability, either way. Its interesting, if nothing else. It is interesting, and if Kat's ultimate goal was to adds some stains to Armageddon, that's a huge success... they lost a good character with geezer banned, and Nessalin's tone in the complaints rebuttal comes off as grating, without more context. I'm curious about the hate towards Shaloonish as well. I've read these boards for a while, and it seems like there's always a staff member targeted: Nyr, Nergal, etc. saying they've behaved unprofessionally in the past is more than warranted, especially if we're basing all our opinions on all the accounts of it here. We're all going to form our own answers to a few questions. Was the incident with Kat true? Was the perpetrator Nile? What motives did they have? One thing that adds credence to nile's side of things is the time gap for me. Why wait so long to submit a complain if they immediately knew? Niles reply to Nessalin is impulsive and angry for being insinuated in something downright dirty. That's justified anger. But if we look close, it also tells us a few things.. "Not sure what to do with this but figured I'd let you all know this is complete, utter BS. I could easily blow the shit up now that I've seen the posts on the shadow forum about it but I'm not a complete cunt." That one line was a mistake.. It poked the bear, but also it hinted a pattern as well.. see, we're all creatures of patterns, no matter how we try to change. If we're reading into every thing, like staff would, It tells me that nile has done this before. The information leaked to Kat was meant to be a jebait and prompt this exact behavior. What does add credence to Nile's side of things is there's a large time gap between when Kat was given the info and when requests were submitted. If Kat hadn't disappeared and would be willing to join a group voice conference or provide some nugget of truth to their identity, I'd have been more sold on the story Kat presented as well as Nile's defense, that they have nothing to do with them.

Saying staff should get rid of someone isn't the same as an obligation to do so.
I can say staff should get rid of Shalnooosh without that creating an expectation or imperative that they -have- to.
Just like I can tell Wildflower they should bring back their mushroom Caesar salad instead of this hardboiled egg one they currently have.
It is a preference/request conveyed by someone.
Sometimes you'll even see a should and a qualifier. The staff should remove Nyr if they don't want to lose players. Are they obligated to? Newp. Should they? If they wish to avoid the outcome that is qualified, maybe.
Finally the denial that any opinion anyone has doesn't affect staff thinking therefore you shouldn't share your opinion with any expectation it will do any good is... Dumb. People have an opinion, they fire it off into the ether of the internet, whether they expect it to do anything or not who cares. If someone thinks they're making a difference and they aren't percisely why does it matter enough for them to stop?

They have no obligation in general. I feel like some players think arm is supposed to function like a business or organization, it doesn't. It functions like a club. There is an in-crowd and an out-crowd. The staff are the in-crowd, once you're in the psychology of that is simple, and the players are the out-crowd. The same thing happens on our side. of course people feel that way, staff go through significant effort to present themselves as more than just an amateur club. there's a deliberate lack of transparency to avoid looking like an amateur club. 'announcements' and request communications are worded in a semi-formal manner. the request system is designed to be formal. the titles and changes from 'immortal' to staff reinforce it - storyteller, administrator, producer, etc. they post about their professional ethics and how systems and policies are in place to reinforce it, e.g. only certain people can review complaints and never that person. prospective staff members must fill out an application, go through an interview, and sign a contract. yeah no shit people think arm is supposed to be more formal than a group of nerds gaming together, staff are trying to give that impression. then you have dudes like shalooonsh posting dumb shit like that on facebook, and you expect that this group that tries to present themselves as professional will police themselves accordingly. they don't, so players are rightfully annoyed when higher standards are demanded of them than staff yet this group that refuses to be transparent and presents themselves as professional close ranks and act like a high school clique.

Nessalin is nowhere near a 'pretty objective and level headed' guy. Whether he's involved or not, his default stance is being a complete shitbag to anyone that doesn't massage his ego. His emotional maturity is somewhere in the realm of a teenaged neckbeard that he never grew out of. But he can pretend to be benevolent when in his direct comfort zone of a staff-side circle jerk. He isn't someone I would ever trust to handle conflict resolution, or even be alone with an unattended minor. It is interesting, and if Kat's ultimate goal was to adds some stains to Armageddon, that's a huge success... they lost a good character with geezer banned, and Nessalin's tone in the complaints rebuttal comes off as grating, without more context. At which point do you stop requiring more context, when literally every interaction that Nessalin has with players is grating? For like the last 17 years? He's easily the number one reason behind staff's shitty culture, and always has been.

Can't say i know the dude one way or the other. By context i meant staff side dialogues Sirra just has a axe to grind. Nessalin is a pretty caustic individual to deal with sometimes. But he mostly refrains from dealing with players for the most part. Out of everyone, you can rely on him to be the one who will fuck up a staffer that deserves it. Even if they are an avatar of entertainment and code innovation, Nessalin is perfectly willing to sacrifice the whole game, just to do something that he considers must be done. He just needs to be convinced that it must be done. His problem is that he doesn't take shit. So if someone goes too aggro on him, instead of deescalating things like Sanvean and Adhira would do, he triple downs on the conflict. I guess Arm is one thing in his life where he does not have to and not going to take shit from "anybody". He's not always right. He often is not right really, but an insecure aggro way of dealing with him does not work. Very similar psychological archetype to Shakes actually. He can be dealt with, you can reason with Shakes, he's perfectly reasonable, but spewing spittle and raging is not how you do it. Especially in Nessalins case, you don't do it in one single area of his life that he spent two decades working on. Only difference is that Nessalin is sitting on his hill and mostly does not bother anyone unless someone else goads him into it.

Stop sucking Ness's dick and go convince him to improve his shit code. Nothing you've said is readily apparent or true: objectively the overwhelming majority of interactions Nessalin has with the game's playerbase are terrible and a direct negative to the community. We would all be much better off if both the pedo cunts Nessalin and Shalooonsh were cut from the community like the cancers they are.

I look at the recent code additions thread and it shows that Nessalin has been pretty active in improving code. Loonsh created a delf tribe that is highly interactive with celven population. Neither one is perfect, but overall beneficial to the game. How about you, Purg? How much does a bucket of vitriol and bile go for these days?

Isn't the Two Moons tribe so poorly written for the setting that someone else posted horror stories of being a member of it on this forum?
EDIT - PS how is the new subguilds and spice decay working out?

Give me root and I'll save the game. We'll have 100 players in 24 hours. Nessalin's piddly junk and Shalooonsh's half-assed clan don't offset the clear negatives they've brought to the game and its community over years and years of failure. It's a sad state of affairs that these abysmal conditions -- not even mediocrity, but something far worse -- is being marketed as "net beneficial". It's a damn lie and everyone can see through it.

EDIT - PS how is the new subguilds and spice decay working out? Like a work in progress? What about the other ... 2 pages of announced additions this year? How about you, Jeshin? Did you do better in your hobby? Criticizing and dripping spittle is easy. Two moons is written pretty well. It's just not Red Fang. So if you go into it, expecting to play RF, then you won't have a good time. In terms of theme and support, and playability it's much better then SLK for example.

1. Attempting to improve is not in itself improvement. 2. You're right I forgot about the 'accurate lunar update' that truly improved the game for all. 3. You have no idea what my hobby is, you literally don't know me. I had a very good year thank you. 4. I'm the one dripping spittle? How so, where do you come up with this insult? I criticize of course but so do you. Do we both drip spittle? Do you drip less spittle than me or more spittle or do you simply drip it better?
>_> Like between the two of us at least I can retain a coherent posting history. How many contradictory positions have you taken on these forums over the years?
EDIT - For those curious the hobby I made improvement in this year was DND 5e tabletop. I helped fund Foundry Virtual Tabletop as well as several battlemap artists and reached a new level of quality in my online sessions. I even think it improved by MU writing although it did change the voice to a more narrative instead of proper english literature style of writing.
