 An ex-Armer provided me a chart of unique logins from the first year they started counting, up to today. The info was scraped off the site with Python. Anyone who thinks that interest in Armageddon can be restored certainly has an uphill battle ahead of them. |

Muds have been on the decline for a long time. All of the muds I used to play are very down in terms of numbers.
I'm mostly blind now. I can't play most graphical games and certainly not graphical MMO's. My online game time is limited to things where I can tweak the UI size heavily or deal with just text.
Armageddon has to fish in an increasingly smaller body of water for its users. If you check mudconnect you can see that they have been review bombing with good reviews to push the bad ones out. I thought it was cute how many of those good reviews used their GDB forum name. Maybe it earned them some karma.

The reason I just finally quit was being denied karma for the third year in a row for too much PK. But earlier: I start conflict and in my pk/character reports I often get very encouraging remarks from some of the staff. "More murderz plz thanks in advance". Something doesn't add up here. |

My guess is shakes murdered a staff member's PC, a "special friend" of a staff member's PC, or a staff member's friend's PC. They get mighty protective about those. |

I think it's most likely there's just a lot of disagreement amongst staff as to how much pk is acceptable, or what reasons for it are acceptable.
Those whose assigned jobs are to watch whatever group I was in may have enjoyed the action. But then when it comes time to assign karma the admins type "#account stats" and see 19 kills in a year and have a freak out. 19 kills! He can't possibly justify that! No karma for you!
This forum likes to see staff as this monolithic thing with all the exact same thoughts and feelings, but I don't think that's really the case. I think there's plenty of people who made it to storyteller and couldn't progress further or get anything done and are just as frustrated as the rest of us.

I'm sure there's plenty of disagreement. I can also say with 100% certainty that there are disgruntled storytellers on the team who wish they could do more than they can.
There's also staff-side discussion on karma requests, so the staff who complimented you had ample time to speak up on your behalf. Either they didn't do so (unlikely), or the staff member who ultimately resolved your karma request disregarded their input (more likely).

Someone claiming to be a storyteller (in the absence of proof otherwise I'll take them at their word) posted a nasty review on Mudconnect about Arm. I felt a little bad because they were addressing some of my points and I feared they'd lose their position.

It's true. There are a lot of disgruntled staff members who quit. The latest one being reiloth I would suppose. But none of them would talk like that dude have. A lot of points he makes are untrue and any ST would be we aware of it. Basically it's just some member of these boards decided to bullshit a little. Oh wellz. Way to antagonize needlessly.

As a minor point of order a former staff's criticism is no more valuable than a former players. The only difference a former staffer can make is if they take responsibility for the complaints levied by players and apologize for it. So it doesn't really matter if this guy is staff or not unless he goes, I killed players, these were the players, this is how I killed them, and maybe here's the log from staff side of me doing it.
Or this is me being a complete ass in request tool with screen shots, etc etc.

I believe the "storyteller" in that recent review is lying about his status. Unless that mad lad comes here with a scraped version of the storyteller IDB; which, by all means! Do it! I want to come to the civil court case where this bogus NDA is enforced.
