Don't forget to go through the old posts and read legendary's contributions to the warrior grind. At the end of the day, two friends is probably the biggest one-up you can pull on a dude: that multi-fighting penalty will flip things in your favor consistently if you can ambush a dude with your 3-man-strong posse.
