So anyone got the back story on why undertuluk was flooded? Also any cool info about UT in general. What was up with those mummies and undead dwarfs in the robes?

What was up with those mummies and undead dwarfs in the robes? 1st part was due to a eotw plot that also killed halfings a massive flood but ultimately was useless because arm reborn never happened and their whole reason for doing it got scrapped

I never heard any reasoning for the undead stuff down there. One time I explored all the accessible places I could find and there was a bunch of sarcophagi and robed ghouls, but nothing unusual other than that. Just a bunch of tunnels that took a bunch of stamina to move through for some reason, like the sewers under Allanak. I think there was also a way to an ankheg down there but I didn't find it.
One of the silliest things about UT was that there was an elf NPC down there with a couple of lockpicks on him, and people camped him so hard that there would sometimes be "several bodies of a something elf" in the room. Some of the people who did this were regarded as exemplary roleplayers who would lambast any perceived twinking on the GDB.
In any case, UT never really worked out as a playable area because it was dark, which fucks with combat, and moving around cost a ton of stamina. People made sporadic attempts at playing there but it never took off as anything more than a hideout for renegade mages. It certainly wasn't the "northern 'rinth" in any meaningful way. It also had a bunch of obnoxious fall rooms.

The undead thing might have been some sort of tie-in to a previous version of Tuluk. The Tuluk of ~1996, which I think was the original, had a sewer system of some sort and there were undead wandering around down there.

Undertuluk was partially buried Old Tuluk, the Old Tuluk that was destroyed by elementals when the Tan Muark and the Conclave opened the elemental planes in an attempt to kill Tek and get their deity Verra released who Tek had imprisoned (but the elementals also sensed Isar a dragonsthrall and rushed to try to destroy him, destroying the Tuluk).
It was flooded when the vivadu portal was opened as part of the End of the World plot. There were huge waves of water that came from the forest that left a path of destruction on it's way towards Tuluk. If you notice that sometimes the weather is funky (it's different both on the north and south) along the north road directly west of the west gates of Tuluk it's because staff (Nyr, Shabago, etc) were lazy and never swapped back in the original rooms with updated descriptions. the new rooms are in a different zone so they have a different weather. Staff at the time (Adhira) wanted to get rid of Undertuluk so they used this as an opportunity to remove it as a playable area by having it be flooded.
Undertuluk had three different "levels". the upper level (the Narrows I think) was most populated. It had a little market and a tavern. It had gangs of outlaws, etc. the mid level was less populated. The lowest levels of Undertuluk was called the Deep. It was populated by zombies who were part some kind of generic death cult. I think the idea was that the lowest levels of Undertuluk had sections of wild magick left over from the elemental cataclysm that buried the city.
