What's the story with the water cave place by Luir's? Is that a defiler NPC that lives in there?

Some sort of defiler or ancient evil lives down there.
If you slip inside and an immortal is on, you will receive staff interaction; most likely resulting in your death.

By my question I thought one could tell I had, my p.c. get it's ass kicked pretty hardcore and followed for a bit after. I had hoped it was more than a cave-o-asskicking and thought I'd ask.
