Hey, popping in after being absent a while. Noticed a lot of people, prominent names in this community, at least when I was around, have deleted accounts. Anyone know whats up with that?

heres ur answer Received a ban notice today from Nergal. I'm done guys, I'm out. I've played this game for near two decades off and on... was trying to get back into it with my most recent character, and was debating whether I should continue to invest time in it. It's done now, they made the decision for me. edit: by the way, they are banning based on ip address as well as username/handles. crackdealer offered more hits instead of permarehab so now u know how jenki hates radioactive hauwke kmart prodoman bilbo and even perfecto got tuluked meanwhile notice friday being left right the fuck alone

so now u know how jenki hates radioactive hauwke kmart prodoman bilbo and even perfecto got tuluked meanwhile notice friday being left right the fuck alone Yeah, this is downright corny. Even controversial secret anti-terrorism courts require actual evidence. If they don't have any actual evidence to present, they might as well be making it up, or circulating a conspiracy theory. If you read most of the posts on this board, most of them aren't actually that disrespectful, if a bit on the snarky side. You'd think that the game staff would have thicker skin than that. There's a lot of jokes of complaints, but most of it is within what I would consider the realm of acceptability for an online video game. These staff would never be able to cut it moderating commercial MMORPG forums if they're that sensitive. I think what's unfortunate is that the staff are willing to treat someone like this who's been playing for about 20 years. Like you'd think 20 years would be enough time to develop something of a working relationship, or failing that a bit of empathy. I just can't imagine playing a game for someone for twenty years and not being able to talk things out. It's surprising that a ban would be necessary in this case, even a temporary one. You'd have to imagine that if you play a game like this for twenty years, you've spent more time in the company of the game staff than you did your actual parents. Edit: Also, you'd think that you'd be willing to credit someone who's been involved in the game for so long with having good faith. This represents an unsurprising shift in staff policy. For years, before the creation of this board, staff had been telling people that if they were unwilling to put up with the rules of the GDB, they were free to post somewhere else. Now that this has actually happened, they're flip-flopping. Predictable.

If you're referring to deleted accounts within this community. Some people deleted for unannounced reasons, some have deleted due to disagreement with a thread, but several announced deleting due to the wiki database being posted up here.

Now that this has actually happened, they're flip-flopping. Predictable. The message actually was, "If you don't like it, leave (the game)". Which to me always was tantamount to saying "We don't give a shit about you or your concerns". They didn't actually invite people to post elsewhere though.

About a half dozen people who still play the game deleted their accounts, so they wouldn't be cat-fished by Nergal.
They're still on the board. They're just reading as anonymous guests.
All Nergal really accomplished was driving four or five veterans, who half the time stuck up for the game on here, completely out of Armageddon. We're getting into hilarious territory where the ratio of staff to active players is like 1:3.
Because that's all that hysterical witch hunts and senseless censorship ever accomplish.
What Nergal doesn't realize, is that the real way to save Armageddon, would be for the GDB to be as open and uncensored as this board.
People come to this board, and learn about all the horrible shit staff does, because in the grand marketplace of ideas, this board has a lot to offer, information wise. It's probably helped more newbies learn and stick with the game than the GDB. It's also kept staff a lot more honest than they would prefer, given they've backpedaled on shit a dozen or more times once it got blown up here. I can't remember ever seeing vindictively compromising information posted here, about current IC events. It certainly hasn't been tolerated by the self-policing community. It's always either old nostalgic stories or mechanics.
In contrast, the GDB is a danky, seedy bazaar offering maybe a bag of shriveled camel testicles, some meaningless gossip, and the severe risk of being pulled in a dark alley and sodomized by a neckbeard reeking of sweat and dung.
