All excellent changes, methinks. The total randomness of mining always felt somewhat wonky to me before, and certainly not in alignment with the rest of game's relying upon skills and stats to generate percentage chances. Well done. I'll have to go see if I can find which of the staff actually coded this addition.

Also, in a more general sense, I'm almost always pro anything related to "the little guy". Anything to make begging, poop shoveling, prostitution, etc. viable as a vocation for PCs is welcome. Great for reinforcing the theme of the game-world.

I hope the stone deposits allow for random precious/semi-precious stones. You can never have too many unworked rubies/emeralds/diamonds! /sarcasm Seriously though, some of those stones are useful.

The issue with these things (and stuff like clay digging, salt grebbing etc.) is that their accessibility is inversely proportional to a character's need for them. In other words, your new character is almost completely incapable of foraging shit, and your established character with decent forage skill is unlikely to need to go around mining and grebbing.
I tried clay digging with my last character and it was just hopeless, it took 30 minutes of spam-foraging to get five pieces of clay which covered about 30% of the cost of the shovel and bag you use to fucking work with. Collecting dung is about 800% more profitable, and easier to do, not to mention you can stay in the city and don't have to worry about the time.
The old mining code was good because it didn't depend on your character's skills, so you could do it early on which is when you need it. Mining was a bit too lucrative before they fucked with that area and basically removed it entirely, though. I remember making hundreds upon hundreds of 'sid per IG day. Hehe. Only Red Storm tailoring was more profitable.

I'm disappointed they added a strength bonus. Just another way to screw elves and other Non-Swole PCs. Seriously, why wouldn't being smart about where to hit give just as big a bonus? Or being able to precisely target a fault line with dexterous proficiency?
Fuck you, strength.

I'm just not for them making rangers even more stupid good to make money on top of being the most versatile class. Which this does.
