How much does weight affect your sneak/hide?
At what encumbrance does it start?

How much does weight affect your sneak/hide? At what encumbrance does it start? It's a decent factor into things, and I think it actually starts at something after 'no problem' encumbrance level. How much I'm really not sure but I would never count on having sneak or hide be 90% successful even maxxed out after medium encumbrance level.

I was able to sneak and hide fairly well at easily-manageable. At no problem I didn't intuit anything screwing me up. When you're more skilled a good way to get stealth fails is "forgetting" how much crap you're carrying.

Slight tangent, but is there any benefit to fighting encumbered? Are you more likely to fail? So, for example if you are a 25 day old warrior, would fighting a jozhal encumbered help you or no?

For skill grinding, yeah you'll begin missing more around manageable and up.

Well, a fairly skilled person will start NOTICING the penalties around maneagable and up. I believe they technically start at easily manageable (as per an imm announcement when they increased the penalties last), but are fairly negligible at that level. More encumbrance = more fail, obviously, but how much you're effected depends on the skill.

Combat skills don't have penalties until beyond easily manageable, far as I've seen. Stealth skills have penalties beyond light.
Defense is given a bigger penalty then Offense, making twinking harder.

Does armor weight factor into sneaking? As in lets say I am at easily managable, but am wearing a heavy breastplate, will I still have any chance of ever being able to sneak?

God, why would your assassin be wearing horror shell. I can't verify, but I'm pretty sure it's straight up encumbrance. I never got the feeling that the arm encumbrance system went off of anything but weight. Ie, wearing heavy armor in and of itself doesn't slow you down / fuck up your skill checks, so long as you're strong enough to not be encumbered by it. I'm not positive that that statement is true, that's just the impression I get. As far as encumbrance and sneak, I've noticed that even master sneak fails pretty regularly at manageable. If you're relying on sneak (tailing PCs, dodging apartment guards, etc.) then keep it real light. I generally impose a cap of "easily manageable" on all my characters. It doesn't seem to penalize you much at all. If you bump it up to "manageable" the difference is pretty noticeable. One sneak question I have is; how reliable is stealth vs city guards? Can you actually hide and sneak to safety, after committing your nefarious deeds? Is it more reliable than just straight up spam running to safety?

Having played a half giant assassin and tested, your sneak fails rely on the weight of your armor... hide less so. So you can hide with heavy armor, you just can't sneak for dick. I believe encumbrance effects hide more, but have no proof. It's all anecdotal.

I've heard it said that hide and/or sneak go off of height also. Ie, the shorter you are the stealthier you are.
