But yeah, if the focus of these NPCs was to encourage solo RP -- that would be a great addition. I do remember a particular Tuluki noble using their NPC guard to "skill up", once upon a time. That's just one example of why nowadays there are so many restrictions on NPCs.
There was some abuse at some point. In order to reduce workload on monitoring everyone abusing things, stuff was changed.
e.g. I'm pretty sure they changed the gather code because I was abusing certain things and branched gather on my 0 day ranger. I put in a request or emailed the mud (can't remember) that I did branch gather while messing around. You're welcome. B)

I was just messing around with it. My PC gained "gather" on the first try. I think I used it again. Maybe 3 times? But yeah, gained the skill on one attempt. I didn't RP about it because I figured the skill was going to be removed from my PC no matter what.

Don't just fuck around with commands unless you're doing it for RP reasons. This is similar to if we saw you "just messing around" with kick in a city and ended up killing some NPCs.
