All rght, well. I just powered through this thread. And i had some thoughts. You complained that the abuse you had as a minor has prevented you from having a real relationship in a text-based game. And that you presented yourself as jailbait to pearl to keep her banging you. And ghaati thinks that since minors can't consent theyre somehow breaking the law by agreeing to a contract. Or some shit like that. And youre all hot and bothered and are considerng the legal implications of something youre totes not going to pursue again Vanth.
But what Im not hearing is how your mother is innocnt of parental neglect. i mean. Thanks to her failure to restrict your internet use, you'll never have a real imaginary relationship in Arm. You're smoking massive amounts of refined THC. and you still havent found the edit button so you can reply to multiple people in one post.
So why is her head not on the choppng block here?

I respectfully disagree and say that this has been a worthwhile reflection of a fucked up but seldom spoken of aspect of Armageddon MUD. They make a hobby of critiquing players, so I think it's fine to ppint out the absurdity of their policies, like ignoring predators while simultaneously "cracking down" on craft characters, which is dumb because most RPTs are focused on combat characters. It's not Armageddon's Staff duty to be your parents. Maybe you should start a thread about how your own parents failed you by making sure that they knew what you were doing with that computer of yours when you were 14 and how you were spending that time. If your parents were not around when you were 14 then I'm going to assume that your traumatized teenage years have more to do with that than some random internet adult woman telling a buddy of yours on AIM that you were super boring in the sack. I can guarantee you that any minors that are currently playing Armageddon are also looking at the most fucked up things you can imagine while they are idling it up in the Sanctuary. Some horny adult lady wanting some is probably the least of your worries, as a now adult and maybe future parent. Now that you are 29 you are realizing how vulnerable teenagers can be to sexual predators like any decent parents would be, but again it's like you're telling Staff that it's their job to police that aspect of the game when in reality it should be your parents' jobs and no one else. |

You dudes can be pro simulating sexual acts with minors all you want. That's your own damned problem. But society at large would probably think that's it's really fucked up to simulate sexual acts with minors.
Blaming parents for a system that enables youth to be drawn into psychological and emotional relationships with old people, sometimes straight up pervs, is absurd.
The people whose heads need to be on the chopping block are the ones that are worrying more about "spam crafting" than adults simulating sex acts wth minors. It's a problem of priorities, and while the staff would like to sweep that aspect of the game under the rug, it doesn't make it any less disgusting or unworthy of attention.

When someone is playing a game, the onus is not on them to police the other players to ensure they are supposed to be playing that game. In addition the onus is not on the staff to police the players either. If you truly believe that adding "Mature Content Warning" to the ARM login screen or homepage is the answer then you don't care about the problem.
They add mature content 18+ warning. An underage player still plays. The same thing still happens. Now who is at fault?
EDIT - At what point is the blame on the underage player or their parents? Never? Always? Who cares?
DOUBLE EDIT - Someone kills someone after tattooing a Tuluki shadow artist ink on themselves and babbles about how they insulted the Sun King. Should we arrest the staff as promoting violence with their text based game?

I love how you're skipping every serious attempts we're having at telling you that blaming Armageddon for this is ridiculous but you keep going back to your "Armageddon's Staff prefers to accuse me of spam crafting rather than dealing with the rampant statutory rape that is going on in the mud" BS defense. No, I'm sticking to the fact that if there's someone to blame in all of this, it's either yourself or your parents. What you are describing doesn't even come close to being considered child abuse or statutory rape so unless you actually have some dealings with that utterly heartbreaking and DISGUSTING side of society, please realize just how ridiculous you are sounding and move the fuck on with your next "card" in that deck of yours. If it's a 16 year old boy at the other end of the glory hole, does the fact that you didn't know that mouth was attached to a minor make it ethically sound to have participated sexually with them? sorry, you guys keep tossing words like disgusted and disappointed around, but what's disgusting and disappointing to me is that a game like Armageddon passively sits by and allows minors and adults to simulate sexual acts with one another with little to no oversight, while how much someone crafts or does/doesn't emote is monitored way too closely. |

That's why we have "R" rated movies and "X" rated movies. Sorry, a 14 year old should not be drawn into a romantic or sexual relationship, even via text, with someone twice or three times their age. And if you think that should be their right, then you're more fucked in the head that I ever could be. |

Again, attack me all you want, but after you're finished, refer back to my account notes that went from glowing to some bullshit as soon as Vanth and Nyr started staffing the game.
Pinning the shortcomings and failures of the current incarnation of the wizlist on players is weak as hell.
