Now that I am an adult, I will never think it's cool or not creepy to simulate sexual acts with someone who might be a minor.
Hiding behind the fact that it's anonymous and that a minor is playing a "character" does not exempt you from being a sick fuck if you put yourself in that position because most people are ACUTELY aware that minors play the game.
And again, I did cite anecdotes, but I also repeatedly said that the phenomena as a whole is what merits discussion, not whatever "experience" I've had, specifically and individually.
Lots of people in this thread resorted to attacks against me, personally, or the ancedotes that I shared, while entirely ignoring the big picture or the point.
And lol at the people still walking around thinking it's legal to simulate sexual acts with kids, just because you're unaware of the fact that they're kids. In a game known to attract LOTS of players under 18, your chance of saying that you didn't know any better drops dramatically.

This thread made a lot of people uncomfortable because they realize that they've probably mudsexed minors.
I would probably want it deleted too if I were one of those dudes, out of effing embarrassment.

Back in 2007, it was legal to have sex (not just mudsex - real actual up close and personal sex) with a 14-year-old in Canada. They raised the age of consent to 16 in 2008. It was also 14 in Europe, Iceland, Croatia, and Lithuania. Europe changed in 2007, the others didn't change up til 2010 and 2013 - and in Croatia, it was raised from 14 to 15.
Armageddonmud isn't played exclusively in the USA and most players don't even play in the state where the server is located, or where the "owner" has his established address of record. So it's not just a matter of knowing how old someone is. It's also a matter of knowing where they are, while they're that age. If they're in Croatia and they're 15, it's all good, no harm no foul. If they're in Iceland and they're 16, no harm no foul. Here's some more relevant info:
The age of consent "depends," and varies not only in each state, but on the circumstances. In some states, the age of consent is 18 BUT if the 12-year-old is boinking another minor under 18, it's okay for them to have sex. In most states, the age of consent is either 16 or 18, but most of the ones that are 18 have exceptions such that if both parties are between 12 (or 14) and 18, and both consent, there's no problem at all. In a couple of states there's a "range" exception - if one party is less than 5 years older than the other party, and the youngest is no younger than 12, then there's no problem. So a 12-year-old could boink a 17 year old, a 13-year-old could boink an 18-year-old, etc. etc.
There is no simple way to enforce the law, because the law isn't "THE" law. It's one of hundreds of possible laws, depending on where each party is located. If you want to go after the owner of the game, well as long as none of the parties involved are currently in the same state, then there are no laws being broken by the owner of the game because these laws are locally-based, not nationwide or universal.

Yeah, I mentioned in one post that laws like that vary from place to place.
If I were to have people take anything away from this discussion, then it would be to try to fucking verify in some way, shape, or fashion that the person you're about to diddly is, in fact, a consenting adult.
I realize that this may not be possible all of the time - and that people can and do lie - but this should be something in the back of people's heads whenever they are about to engage in graphic sexual content over the Internet, even if it's just in text.
Some of the discussions that went down could have been a little less on the high school side of things, but, regardless of any of that, I think it's been good to meditate on simulated sexual relations between adults and minors on ArmageddonMUD.
And if you don't agree, well, how about you go fuck yourself, or a minor, or a miner?

i'm not deleting threads because they make the 'community' look bad or are inconvenient. that's deceptive and nyr-ish. this could have ended 20 pages ago if you guys didn't engage. i gotta second this. There was near-universal oppostion to this thread. that disproves the circljerk argument, not the other way around. |

 I've been doing some really cool stuff with winterizing hash oil... Basically, I extract the butane hash oil through a glass column into a pyrex filled with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. First I put the pyrex is a sink of hot water to speed up the butsne evaporation. And I pour the cannabinoid laden alcohol into a mason jar, freezing it. After two days, the plant solids like waxes, lipids, etc, begin to coagulate, and I filter these out with a "modded" coffee maker. I just strained one batch for the seventh time. This process, the removing of plant solids, is referred to as winterizing. to ensure solvents are gone, I use a vacuum pump and chamber, up to a eek constantly at a time, and the result is the near transparent goodness you see pictured above. It's an incredibly laborious process so I don't sell it, but in a shop, something that like could be worth as much as 70 a gram. |
