I've never been lucky enough to get one. But I always wondered how players got away with it. Can Templars, etc., with detect magic see that the ring is magic? Just seems like wearing one of these would put an enormous "execute me and take my stuff" sign over your head, unless you were already a big badass with connections.
So how do they work? Any comments and advice in general about mundanes using magic gear?

Rings can be covered by gloves, you can also enchant pretty much any item to make it magic and then hide it under a cloak. Magic items tend to hum or glow, if you wear enough magical items I believe there is an audible humming which prevents hiding or echoes into the room when you enter it. Most people do not wear magic rings in areas where someone with authority can simply take them you can leave magic shit in a backpack or an apartment until you need it. If you have a full set of magic rings giving you AI in every stat you don't need connections because you are a big badass. My favorite magic ring story is thus.
Anyone who remember Arjaan or Arj from Tuluk between 2010 - 2012 would probably mark him as the best warrior short of Dargan the dwarf. Arj and another dwarf soldier were out in the grasslands and had run into a Sun Runner krathi with full enchanted rings. He 1 hit them both. Why? Because he can kill meks and then pick them up due to his enchantments. You see if you grind your offense hard enough (an invisible skill with supposedly no cap) and you have max stats then you are a killing machine.

Sun Runner krathis were/are a unique brand of OP. Supposedly, they've got abilities or spells beyond what even a normal krathi gets access to. They also, needless to say, have no trouble at all getting tons of rings.
The krathis are the leaders and most of the rest are rangers. Makes for a lot of slate.

Rings worn under gloves can be seen with peek. Once had a Jihaen templar spot my magic ring under a pair of fucking chitin gauntlets and confiscate it.

A templar that spots my ring and wants it...I'm like the fucking Road Runner. Speed run out of the scene, and out the gates...YOINKS. They can dock me into negative fucking karma they want, or put a death mark on my head. I ain't never coming back. (Of course, speed walking out of a scene to avoid a greedy templar is wrong, but that same templar using every nasty NPC half-giant/subdue trick in the book on you is perfectly kosher).

Someone wearing ten +agi rings (the permanent kind), that's +30 agility and pretty much nothing is going to hit that person and they're going to get like 5-10 times as many attack rounds as they did before. It'd be pretty incredible.

They sure had the unique ability to instantly suck the fun out of any situation the moment they arrived on scene. Who the fuck designed that for the game? People who like playing first person shooters on god mode? > gather fun

How are Magic Rings made, anyway?

Magic rings are actually not accurate... A krathi has the ability to imbue an enchantment into an item. This can be a sword or a pair of pants. The most code efficient means of doing it is rings though because they can be hidden by gloves and they're easy to carry. The method of making a magic item is first selecting the item, lets pick an obsidian ring. Then you need to collect the components to properly cast the spell. If you succeed then the item is enchanted... depending on the variant of the spell it will crumble to dust when the enchantment wears out or it will be permanently enchanted (the most valuable magickal item). If you fail the casting I believe it destroys the target item too... I suppose you could cheese the spell to destroy corpses enchant them then have them poof.

You can only enchant certain items that can be worn in certain locations and of certain size and weight. You cant enchant weapons. You cant enchant most armor pieces. Mostly some clothing pieces and jewelry. But locations like ankles, shoulders, etc are good locations for enchanted crap.
You dont need slate for enchanted rings.
If you're wearing too many of them and are super obvious about it. Expect to die at all times. Because you are wearing 'the' most valuable transient crap out there. So if you get insta slept, paralyzed, charmed, heramided and killed for your rings. You deserve it.
