Hello,
Some of you showed interest and suggested me to post more of rinth stories. Why don't we use this thread to share anything interesting/funny that we played through. I will try not to give spoilers and I will hide the identities of people that may want to remain anonimous.
I have a lot to share, but it has been so long that I do not know where to dig in the logs for most. As I find them, I will post here.
Here is the first one:
Accidental (!) death of Templar Evaren.
Evaren was a blue robe who started after Shiran's assassination. In truth, Evaren's player also played the newbie Templar who happened to be with Shiran at the time of his death. So we killed him because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was so new to his templar when he died (I think he was approved on a Friday and we killed him on Sunday night, so he only played 1 weekend), the imms just allowed the player to start another templar. That is how the same player was playing the Templar Evaren. Initially, I tried to have good relations with this templar (as I tried with every templar, including the northern in some cases) and sent him bribes. But he was only interested in meeting me in person, which I suspected because I had a bounty on my head from the Red Robes. He probably wanted to score some easy points by taking me out.
Anyway... One day he decided to map the sewers of Allanak. In truth, he wanted to find a passage to the Guild office from the sewers, so he could torch the building. And at a later time after finding the passage to the Guild office, he would launch a full scale assault as well. I knew all of this, before he even set foot on the sewers, because I heard all of his plans to the last detail.
So, he hired 5 Byners to come with him and he took 3 NPC soldiers for this patrol. Though the Byners did not know his real plans, they were simply hired to map the sewers. Marin and I started to watch their progress and at the same time we were discussing how to handle the situation. First, I sent some echoes to them to steer them away from the correct path. Here are some of the echoes that I sent them:
"A disembodied hand clutches your ankle briefly, cold fingers giving a tight squeeze before releasing and slipping back into the shadows."
"From the corner of your eye, you catch a figure darting into the darkness quickly as it meets your eye."
"In the darkness, you see the blink of glowing red eyes."
"The glow of eyes disappears quickly, as if the figure slinking deeper into the darkness"
"You see the blink of red eyes again ahead of you, staring at you from the darkness."
Some of the byners suggested going back, but Evaren pressed on. Quick and I started to consider fighting them. But killing 6 PCs, one of which being a templar would bring more trouble than we wanted and we already had a shitstorm because of Shiran not more than 3 weeks ago. Also, the Byners were really without any guilt. They did not even know why they were there. But then, the direction they took gave us another option. There was a 5 level fall as a shortcut and Evaren was thinking about using a rope to go down. At this point, Quick, Marin, Inrof and me went to the bottom of this cliff. And I just pushed the templar. This is what we saw next. You say to the tall and thick figure in a dark, hooded cloak, in sirihish:
You say to the tall and thick figure in a dark, hooded cloak, in sirihish: "If I just drop the templar off the cliff.."
The tall and thick figure in a dark, hooded cloak says to you, in unnaturally toneless sirihish: "Do it if you's can."
***SEKRET SEKRET SEKRET SEKRET THING THAT ALLOWED ME TO PUSH HIM OFF THE CLIFF ****
You say to the tall and thick figure in a dark, hooded cloak, in sirihish: "He is falling."
145/145 135/167 99/125 walking - standing> You hear a man's voice from above say, in southern-accented sirihish: "What the fuck."
145/145 135/167 102/125 walking - standing> The lofty, grizzle-haired man falls in from above... << The lofty, grizzle-haired man falls unconscious. >> The lofty, grizzle-haired man's eyes roll back in his head. The lofty, grizzle-haired man crumples to the ground.
145/145 135/167 102/125 walking - standing>
The tall and thick figure in a dark, hooded cloak gently pats the lofty, grizzle-haired man.
Then we killed him. The last thing he saw before falling unconscious is falling in the middle of 4 of us. Then he saw someone gently pat him in the back, and death. I do not know the player personally. But I heard the player found his death truly funny. Particularly, someone patting him on the back, he said it is the Armageddon's way of saying "Owned". EDIT: Later, I watched the Byners. They were scared that everybody would think they pushed him. But then they realized the NPC soldiers were also with them, so they calmed down. But not before seeing some of these:
A Byner asks, in southern-accented sirihish: "Why the feck did 'e do tha'?"
Another Byner exclaims, in southern-accented sirihish: "QUIT FUCKIN' PANICKIN'!"
Another Byner asks, in southern-accented sirihish: "What the FECK ARE WE GOING TO DO!?"
First Byner says, in southern-accented sirihish: "Feck yeh! A Templar of Allanak just fecking died in front of, any moral we 'ad is gone"
Second Byner again exclaims, in southern-accented sirihish: "Didn't I tell yer t' shut t' fuck up?!"
They sent a byner to check after him, but he fell to his death instead. We did not do anything. Right after as they were calming down, they reported to Templar Samos the Blue:
Byner Sergeant reporting over the Way: "Lord Templar!...This is Sergeant Kazi of the T'zai Byn, we're underground with Templar Evaren Sath and some of his soldiers. I have no idea why but Lord Templar tried to climb down in a whole and he slipped, I can not find his mind. I am..."
Samos replies over the Way: "You can't find his mind at all, son? Not that he's unconcious?"
Byner Sergeant over the Way: "...extrely worried, we can not reach him and have already lost one trying."
Byn Sergeant over the Way: "I can no longer find my runners mind and immediatly lost contact with Lord Templar when he fell."
Byn Sergeant over the Way: "I don't know Sir, I can think of no other reason for him to do something like that...And there is some vile shit at work down here Lord Templar."
So.. in the end, Samos knew it was us. But he did not make a big deal.

Fuck climbing in this game, man. That shit just reminded me how badly implemented it is. If you don't have the climb skill - and lots of characters won't - then you have about a 95% chance to just blindly plunge over the edge of any drop instead of holding onto the fucking rope. Using a rope should increase the chance of climbing success to at least 80%, and only insanely long climbs should be a consistent danger if you're using rope.
So many cool areas are rendered largely pointless because you can't justify the risk as a failed climb check often equals death, or at least knockout and huge damage. It's like the game world is designed for a different game that has great climbing code and then stuffed into Arm where climbing is a fleeting afterthought afforded only the most rudimentary, dysfunctional bit of code which hasn't been updated in about twenty years.
And on top of all that, any failed climb check, even upwards from ground level, has about a 5% chance to make you land on your neck like some kind of spastic and deal about 100 stun damage. Whoever designed Arm's climb code must be a quadriplegic with only the vaguest understanding of how human motor skills function.

I had something very short but funny (at least to me) about hekro, but can't find it in the logs. Need to search harder or I did not log.
But I got another one!
The Meeting of the Mindbenders:
As I posted in another thread, in 2006/2008 era, there were a lot of mindbenders. Most short lived, but the ones that survived knew each other, and since we knew how much we each can spy, we agreed not to contact each other directly. But if we had to talk to each other, we would give a message out and meet in someone else's mind.
The message read something like this:
You suffer from use of the Way. You send a telepathic message to the merchant woman: "Pst.. I will use you now."
You suffer from use of the Way. You send a telepathic message to the merchant woman: "To pass a message. Don't freak out."
Over the Way: The merchant woman thinks: "Go for it."
You send a telepathic message to the merchant woman: "RAVEEEN! RAVEN DO YOU HEAR ME! IT IS KING! LET'S TALK!"
You suffer from use of the Way. You send a telepathic message to the merchant woman: "RAVEEEEN! RAVEN FIND MILAN OR LAILA! LET'S TALK!"
Oh yes, we each took shadow names to remain anonimous in such meetings. I was the King of Shadows, there was Raven, Occotillo and.. I forget what Marin was. After passing the meeting spot like this, then we would meet in that person's head and talk. Here is one such meeting:
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "You don't mind if I ask a friend to come here so I can talk to them, do you?"
Over the Way: The scarred, ashen-haired man thinks: "Uh. Sure, go right ahead."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Raaaaaveeeen! Come to Milan!"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "*tension radiating through the thoughts* King? I'm in Milan. You wanted to talk. So let's talk."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Okay.. Great."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "*a slight slacking of tension, then a sudden increase in it, and then panic all over again* What do you WANT!?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "*a forced, hasty politeness* Hi Milan, by the way. Sorry about this."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Listen, I will use no names. But it should be apparent. That man we met earlier now..."
Over the Way: The scarred, ashen-haired man thinks: "Hi. Don't mind me."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "A few weeks ago, there were three minds in his head."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Were you one of them?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "One of the ones talking to him?"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Yes.. A few weeks ago."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "There were three minds talking."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Did you say?"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Did I say what?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Ugh. Do you want to know if I was one of the ones talking to that man just a little while ago?"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Not just a little while ago. About four weeks ago."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "No."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "I have never talked to him before until tonight. *a sudden increase in anxiety* It didn't g-go well l-let me t-tell you that right now."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Are you sure? Maybe I am hazy in the time. Have you spoken with him few weeks ago?"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Okay.. Let me change the question.."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Did the... Eh.. Other ... Person. That is taking care of you and watching you. But not your master."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Did that one was talking to him then?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "I don't know who he talks to! I don't know. I don't know, I don't know, I don't know who was talking to him."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Okay.. Then.. The situation is a little complicated."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "*intense confusion and frustration* The only time I ever even LOOKED at him was when I found out YOU were plotting to KILL me in his head. I don't know -anything- and you know this."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Let me tell you what happened, and then you rethink and see if the other one talked to them."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Shh... Wait. Listen first."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "F-fine."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "I was not trying to kill you, and you know it. I would not take great measures nor need him. I have no intention of killing you. I have no intention of bringing you harm."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "I needed something. An item."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "I thought it was -absolutely- necessary"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "And I told that man, that this item is necessary. And it can be acquired in different ways. One of them would be..."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "You would have killed me to get it. As if I had it! I don't!"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Threatening the man holding it, for killing you."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "That was it. You don't have it I know!"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Well -he- doesn't have it either."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "So.. Later on I learned he did not have either."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "So I returned to this man to correct that mistake."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "I was only making sure."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "That is the only reason I was there tonight. What is your tale? How are you, by the way, Milan. I'm sorry we're not being more polite."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Huh? I am already telling you what happened about four weeks ago!"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "As soon as I was in his head, there was a voice there."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Ok. Keep going then. There were voices in his head. I'm sure he's used to it."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "The voice was giving him pain. And telling him confusing things."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "The voice was pretending to be me. And was pushing him to kill you."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "I waited for a few minutes. There was another voice. It was giving confusing directives."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Really confusing. I still don't understand what it was trying to do."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "*baffled confusion* About four weeks ago...a rip in the air happened. In my room. While I was walking shadows. But I was not there...my master was. He carried me out."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "When that man said, he is not prepared to kill you yet, the first voice started to pester him."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Like.. Push him.. Force him to kill you."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Then I jumped in, and called him by name, and told him there are at least two more minds there and that I am talking for the first time."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Why would they do this?"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "And then I told him, to stop thinking on killing you."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "I don't know. Listen!"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "*childish sulkiness* I am listening."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "The first voice asked who I am."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Then the man asked who I am."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Without giving any name or any hint on who I am, I started to explain that I am the one who talked to him in the first place."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "While I did that, the first voice took control oh him and started to make him doubt me. Asking again and again my name."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Slowly I explained, and every once in a while, I reminded him that you should not be killed."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "*thoughts slightly shaky still* Th-thanks. That was decent."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Though he might do it anyway, now. I'll explain in a little bit."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "When the first voice got the idea that I am gaining, it started to pester him once more.."Er.. (Insert your gender here) is defenseless. Kill now! Do it now!""
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "At that moment, he snapped.. Closed his mind for a while and then opened it again."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "And asked me some details to prove that I am who I am. And I did so."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Then asked me what I want."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "And I told him that the item that is needed is not in your possession, nor can it be gained from killing you."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "And killing you would even make things worse, because you work against his own enemy."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "*confusion* It's very confusing...I'm not good at these things. But...it seems like you're saying someone -else- wants me to die, I guess."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Yes.. I am saying that.."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "The first voice left him."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Now.. The thing is, I made sense to him."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "He said that he will not kill you."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "And I even pointed out the real enemy he should fight."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Well he might now."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "And.. He was trying to kill that real enemy for a few weeks now. Anyway..."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "So.. What about your side?"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Why would he want to kill you?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred,ashen-haired man: "All right. I know the enemy. I know...it is your side."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Why? Because. Tonight after we were done speaking..."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "He opened a rip in the air, in my room. I felt the cold wind of Nilaz on my face."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Whoa? Why would he do that?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "I don't know. But I panicked and I took his tongue. And now he's very mad."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Before, or after we are done talking?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "What?"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Did this happen -after- we said we would meet at the beggar?"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Or before?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Um..it happened...yes, it happened -after- I said...I'll meet you in the beggar in front of Traders. But then I couldn't find him. And then the rip happened so then...well, I had to, didn't I?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "It was self defense."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Yes, it was."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Do you think we should find his mind now and ask him what is wrong with him?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "NO. I don't want anything to -do- with him."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "*thoughts suddenly savage* If he does that to me again I'll KILL him."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Look. If he wants you dead, it won't go away if you don't look in that direction."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Listen... We can change his mind."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Hahahaha...hahahah *mental laughter projected over the link*"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: ""Look in that direction." Hahaha."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Well, someone did say that."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "They said if they don't think about it, it will go away."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Silly stuff, is not it?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "-You- said it! But I -can't- look, can I? *hysterical amusement*"
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Oh.. Right.. Now I think of it, that is hilarious."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Hahaha.. I crack me up."
<< The scarred, ashen-haired man feels a sudden urge to laugh hysterically. >>
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Raven, you are being bad again?"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Oh...sorry, Milan. I'm l-leaking, I guess."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Okay.. Here is my suggestion. We speak to him now."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Ask him why he did what he did."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Ok. But he's scared now."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Not that his barrier means anything to us, but we will have to use his thoughts."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "It is fine by me."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Okay.. Let's go to him."
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Fine."
You suffer from use of the Way. You silently send a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Bye bye Milan.. Thanks!"
Someone sends a telepathic message to the scarred, ashen-haired man: "Sorry we couldn't be better guests, Milan."
Over the Way: The scarred, ashen-haired man thinks: "Take care and shit."
You dissolve the psychic link.
