Where is Zalanthas at in its medicinal technologies and discoveries? Dentistry? Infections? Sterilization? Has anyone ever sewn a finger back on? Done a transplant? Extracted a tooth? Excised a boil? Cleaved off a gangrenous foot?
Who has access to these medicinal practices? Just nobles? Would Amos the Bodyguard who got his leg crushed under a wagon go see the Butcher to get it lobbed off? What about if he had throbbing tooth pain, who does he go to get it pulled?
Are there antibiotics? Anti-funglas? Painkillers? Anti-inflammatories? What about vitimins, germs, viruses?
What about abortions? What about delivering babies?
Medicine is a huge part of our lives, and has been for ages. But what is the state of medicine in Zalanthas?

Only something equivalent to modern contraception... which is convenient.

I would think that opening a boil would be fairly straightforward as I've done that at home with nothing but a sharp object, for multiple people. Yes, it's gross, no, I don't give a fuck that it's gross. I had an issue with getting them in weird spots as a teenager and a friend of mine had a similar issue a few years later. The dr. said it was the result of a particularly virulent strain of staph infection on the skin but the result is pretty much always the same, it results in a huge boil. And if you don't drain it, it eventually will come to a head, break open, and start to drain on its own. It's faster, easier, and less painful to just 'pop' it open and use pressure from the outside working in like it's a giant pimple, and drain it that way. TBH the notion of reattaching a finger is a fuck of a lot complicated, antibiotics, literally everything else listed, is more complicated, than 'stick it with something sharp and push the gross shit out'.
Edit to add: It would seem fairly intuitive to believe there is anesthetics given the black pills you can make that knock you out and do nothing else. And the same with pain medication, given the black palmfuls of seeds that make your mouth numb when you taste them.
Amputations would be a good bit trickier, not because they are so complicated in and of themselves, but because finding an effective way to uniformly cauterize the wound before the person bleeds out while you're hacking through the bone of their limb with a (LOL BONE) saw is what makes that the most tricky.
Despite Nyr's semicommittal answer on the GDB, though, I can't find any place where it makes sense for someone to try and reattach a limb unless it's with magick.
