I think this is the case with all communities on the internet where the female side of authority bring nothing but their gender with their name. Better the case where everyone is assumed male, and when a staffer is female, you can't tell. Things just work better without a blaring feminine persona in powe who is slow to perform the masculine avenues of being a staffer. ... better for who? The half of the world who has to hide who they are because someone else is an idiot? So you're saying that if Sanvean and I had dicks (or pretended to) it would automatically make either of us somehow better or more qualified for... what exact 'masculine' avenues? Dick pics sent to players? Ho Ho Ho. Way to put words in my mouth. I never said you have to "hide who you are" - just don't act like one. Don't act like one like it makes you different. And for Christsakes don't let the fact you have a uterus define your hugely different capacity for responsibility for your actions. Genitalia has nothing to do with it. The actual frames of mind do. Better for staffers to be male-oriented (actively aggressive) instead of female-oriented (passively aggressive). I've seen situations where women have joined a nearly-all male staff team and gone for a passive-aggressive role because of all the machoness going on. Well, machoness works. Am I saying that men can't act passively, and females can't act actively? Of course not. That would be a stupid thing to try and pick my argument apart with. One's persona when in a state of power should tend to be masculine, so as there's no hesitation or issues when one has to actually deal with a problem - it can be done correctly, and not behind-the-scenes without reaction by the wounded party. Once again, genitalia has nothing to do with it. Merely the concept of male-female dichotomy and how it fits into the status of power when we're talking about a text game. Dick pics to players is a definite plus in my book. |

It was thinly veiled by the IC rationale of "it doesn't matter if you're a Nilazi, Lirathans can still detect you." Then maybe you should change the Nilazi help file to say they are skilled in blocking the ways of psionics, except Lirathan psionics. or maybe they shouldnt employ an ooc punishment onto a player for having their char act on a completely justified (ooc and ic) ignorance of obscure coded and gameworld magickal mechanics that they would punish most chars (including witches) for somehow 'knowing' in the first place |

The reason the OOC punished was applied at all is because I had strongly rebuffed Vanth's advances and maybe even went too far by blocking her, but sorry, I was made to feel very uncomfortable.

Anaiah, I totally agree there were ways to catch Kailer and punish him. But to punish me OOCly after failing to punish the character ICly, and the fact that it came down from a creeper who I had rebuffed/blocked on AIM for creeping hard, well, that is the part that I find /most/ shitty. And none of the staff took me seriously, besides arguably Nyr, though he probably thought I was making it up. Anyone who knows me well knows that I would not just fabricate this sort of shit, and you can see my account notes leading up to that incident. I had been a great player for almost a decade before one person with an OOC grudge decided to hit me where it hurts for having hurt her feelings. Please don't misunderstand or mistake what I said to mean that you as a player in any way invited anything untoward. I've been molested by not one, not two, but three different people. I understand unwanted sexual advances, and I would never mean to imply that anything could warrant them, or being punished for not following up when someone tries to force themselves on you, not by any stretch of the imagination. I was merely trying to let you know that it's within the realm of possibility for Lirathans to know about nilazis, that was literally all. <3 as I said earlier, no one should have to deal with that ridiculousness and shit show. |

I'm writing to give you a little feedback on your play as Lorman.
My impression is that you haven't been taking into account your surroundings at times with Lorman. Travel gating into an apartment building's hallway, or into an apartment with open doors, etc. is going to gain the notice of the neighbors and the building manager. Walking around with magickal effects on in a city that abhors magick is also not wise.
And Lorman's history as being enslaved by the Lirathans would, I would think, make him even more unlikely to underestimate their reach. And for him to threaten them and wage war on the city is arrogance I could only understand if he was insane. You are, of course, welcome to pursue this, I'm just saying it doesn't make any sense to me given his background.
So, you may disagree with me on some of those points, but the fact of not taking NPCs into account still stands. You're a high-karma player which means you get held to a higher standard of play. I have decided to remove some (ALMOST HALF) karma for this, but you always have the chance to get it back with continued good, trustworthy play.

You also have to keep in mind that this character was kinda backed by Ginn, Quick, Marin, another maxed mind bender, and regular Guild criminals, so yes, he probably was not some scared little punk.

Damn that's rough. While I agree that someone who'd been subjugated by the Lirathans would've been extra cautious, there are some things you just don't know as a player unless you've had one, and so that can't really be accounted for. If you had no logical way of knowing, then you had no logical way of knowing, and that just makes the email all the shittier. Which is sad. Vanth rallying for me is why I was ever made an ST, so it's kinda like finding out santa's a pedophile to hear something so bad about her. :/ I believe you, which really just makes it worse, because that means it's true.

Anaiah, the fact that they vouched you into staff hood and yet you are able to see and admit how they were fucked up is extremely telling to me. I appreciate you weighing in because you're in a unique position on that front, having been vouched by her and having presided over Tuluk as staff.

So let me get this straight. They forced you to 'find out IC' that Lirathans can detect Nilazi magick with their psionic powers, and then punished you OOCly for doing so. Is that about the long and short of it?

They tried to kill my character, successfully killed his partner, and I don't even know how I escaped as a half-elf magicker with like 80 something hit points... Probably because Vanth was a noob who should never have been in a place to drop me down from maxed karma to 5.
Well established, older, mature staff members monitored me for years and years to get me up to 8 karma, and then someone who has played less than even I have and who I have told to fuck off OOCly for being a creep, suddenly is able to take away almost half of what I've earned?
Is that not fucked up?
You want to know what I'm still mad? Because it still seems fucked up, and I think they owe me an apology.
