Haven't seen it talked about on here before, it is basically what the title says. Anyone have any knowledge of hide/bone/cloth that are resistant to magic? Furthermore are there hidden resistances to magic via the skills, or is it all just saving roll based?
I know at some point, there was talk IC of certain materials that might mitigate certain types of magic damage, but I don't know if that was bullshit, or something that is actually represented by code.

Dujat Dujat, always heard armor made from dujat had a resistance to magic. Sometimes the memory does wonders.

Indeed Dujat is magic resistant because they live in the silt or something. Also magic resistant is a golden armor waistcoat or something that is made with Tuluki goods. I forget the exact sdesc.

Well dwarves supposedly are but I've never had any dwarf resist a fireball so... i would imagine it would be dependent on how the fireball effect is coded, i.e. as magic or elemental damage. if the latter then magick resistance really shouldn't play into avoiding damage from a ball of fire.

Magick resistance helps you resist spells of influence, such as sleep.
It will also diminish damage done to you by direct damage spells, but due to damage ranges and how no item material has inherent resistance (the stuff about duskhorn and dujat having natural resistance is pure fluff) and must have it manually added when the item is written, the amount needed to negate a fireball would be impossible without staff assistance.
The dwarf magick resistance is so minor as to be rendered useless without some additional bonuses.
Please keep in mind, the information is dated and may now be irrelevant due to changes made.

What about this thing I've seen recently?
The thick dorsal plate of a sultan dujat worm forms the body of this powerful shield. Fiery red on the outside and a creamy beige in the interior, this piece of armor is extremely heavy and provides exquisite protection against blows. The shell of a sultan dujat is reputed to repel attacks of a magickal nature, and as such is highly prized in bazaars across the Known World.
