So after joking around with Lulz about making a Snookie aide in Tuluk. I realized I need to watch Jersey Shore to do it, but also I've never played an aide. What's a good setup?
I'm thinking merchant and house servant would be an obvious one. What other kind of guild/sub guild combo would be good for an aide?

Pick pocket or burglar. I'd even go with linguist just for the hell of it.
You could even make a hidden ma--oh wait, never mind lol.

I usually go with Tavern Sitter as my guild and Sniveler as my subclass when playing an aide

All I'd really, really want for this is listen. Scan could be useful, maybe, but the problem with scan is that being good at seeing baddies does not also equate beung good at stabbing baddies.

Well obviously if I'm playing an aide it's going to be a badass Snookie aide. Just so Lulz' character can't just punch me in the face in a tavern. So I'm thinking merchant with some kind of combat sub.

Whatever's cutest?
I'd go with some kind of stealthy guild and enlightenment magick or some kind of crafter to pay the bills.

Assassin, if in the south, assassin/jeweler (cheap obsidian), if in the north, assassin/tailor (cheap cotton). Assassin will even allow you to pick locks to hide out and spy in apartments eventually, or if properly trained, do your Lord/Lady's dirty work.
Also, assassins and rangers are second only to warrior in combat ability, with it weighted in favor of rangers out of a city, and assassins inside one.

It depends on a lot. Merchant is often a good guild for an aide. You get to mastercraft stuff and what noble doesnt want his clothing to be totally mastercrafted out. Or offer your mastercrafting services out in exchange for favors, all that stuff.
Second choice would be a pick pocket. They get peek, scan, listen, hide, sneak. That's like the ultimate information gathering package. Add an agility bonus and parry skill and you have a reasonable ability to survive ambushes and betrayals of some random douches. You wont survive anything properly organized, but then again, nobody or very few can survive properly organized stuff.

fair enough, qwerty, on pickpocket. never played one as I just... really dislike theft (being on the doing end OR the victim end)

Pickpocket would be good even if there where no pockets actually being picked. Peek alone is a powerful skill to have when you deal with a lot of people all the time. Steal would be good too, if not just to plant things.

Oh, and pick pocket has the greatest benefit of all. They get cooking to master. The only guild out there aside merchants that can master craft food.
