I was really excited about that idea when it was announced. I think that for the right person, meaning someone the current staff likes, it could be really fun.
But I genuinely believe that what a person could do this system will be affected by how they are judged with staff, and that people who have disagreed with the staff will not have the same opportunities/chances to succeed with this shop as other people.
One of my most recent characters, Harar, designed a cloak for Koman Locke. The item that came back had ONE keyword that was the same, "hooded." I was so disappointed.
I have an English degree and have been staring at short descriptions of items for half my life, and I am playing a merchant so I can write what I want to write as an object... But they change every single word except "hooded?" Look. I can write. Don't change my writing. It's my art. It's like submitting a painting and the curator takes a big shit on it to make it "better."
That's the kind of problems you run into while playing a merchant, and I am afraid that similar disappointments would occur in building a clan, considering you can't build a SINGLE OBJECT without having it nitpicked to the point where it's UNRECOGNIZABLE from the one you submitted.

Sorry, I only have the original post I wrote this morning, the one I got banned for afterward got "disappeared" faster than I could copy/paste it to a friend. "Dman, you make it sound like those who left our cherished game have something against Armageddon's staff in general, but if you do even the smallest amount of research on why most decided to leave, or if you talk to these people (I'm sure that you did since Kronibas and you are buds) you'll realize that it mostly comes down to one individual in particular (I'm going to call that individual Byr to protect the innocents). Unless you understand what would drive a person who spent most of his life playing and adoring a game like most of us Arm addicts did at some point to finally just give up and not only leave, but dedicate a whole freakin' forum on this Byr person, then I'm afraid that your post is almost insulting to these vets who fought hard all the way to the end to give us the rp that we often did not deserve *pours grape juice in their honor*. Actually, they'll settle for nothing less than a complete restructuring of the Armageddon staff and for Delerak to sit upon the Iron Throne. close, Is Friday, but the actual plan is for me to destroy Ginka and have it reforged by my band of miscreants into the Silicon Throne, which I will sit upon. |
