My old phone died. I need a new one. Anyone have an idea for a smartphone?

I was going to get a Galaxy S3 but then I read a story about how some are quietly being replaced by Samsung as they were getting bricked (forget how now - google search it).
I'm waiting for the S4 now since it won't be long..hope they have the issue figured out. But I'm not tempted by the S3 anymore.

HTC One, no question. No, the camera isn't the best in the business, but it certainly boasts the best sound quality, and it's screen is gorgeous.
The HTC One and the BlackBerry Dakota are the two best phones ever made in my opinion.

Aside from hardware, take into consideration the applications ecosystem you'll be buying into. If you're not one to use paid apps, then you can always change I'm the future. The reason I continue using iPhones is because I've paid enough money in apps that I don't want to throw it all away by switching to another. The latest Blackberries do have my interest though.
