So, I still do play - have been for an amount of time that shall remain vague, while being slightly more then a year or two. I've had interactions with staff before - mostly brief, to the point and not very personal. I've had interactions with players before - met good ones, bad ones, awful ones, righteous ones... The usual gamut of people that choose to RP. Looking at this site, I'm almost ashamed. I've never had anything happen to me to give me a negative opinion of the staff. Maybe because I tend to be a generally unobtrusive player. I just can't summon up the same amount of hatred for certain staff members as most people here do - Even though I heard a 1001 horror stories, I've never looked deep enough to see them "live"... so to speak. I'm not a rebel, not a veteran? And I know but a few names here. What I do have is an absolute appreciation for what you're doing here. The Arm database is a work of art - the game is a work of art - an environment so pristine, so perfect for the type of roleplay I like that it makes me want to cry. Hiding 99% of it out of... some weird principle, disconnected from the realities of both the social dynamics of any RP based multiplayer game and the actual effect this attitude has on new players, is just sad. Not even sad, enraging. Enraging because while new players shy away daily from the game on account of lack of direct, organized information out there, but also because existing, veteran players are also oft denied access to whole sections of the game itself - by misinformation, apathy and fear. All this to say that while I don't share the motivation most outspoken people here have (I.e.: Hatred of the staff), I do desire, with all my heart, a place where people can come to find the information they need and should rightly have, be it a question of game mechanics or otherwise. I look forward to working here on this objective, with the like minded people that seem to gather on these boards. NajNiaj (will never be found) Ps: I have no idea where introductory posts go. Move, delete, suppress at your leisure.

Move, delete, suppress at your leisure. Well, let me be the first to welcome you and say I still play too, so don't feel bad about that. I haven't had any serious run ins with staff and my stay on Arm has been pretty pleasant. Can't say I agree with what everybody posts on here, but this board is definitely more open than the GDB and just about anything you want to know is answered pretty promptly. What this board has done for me is give me a different perspective of how to play and maybe try a few new things that I never would've known about. So enjoy reading through some of the older threads you might learn a trick or two and post up your questions, we might learn a trick or two also.

*claps*
It's true. I don't think anyone can say that the base of ARM at it's core isn't just fucking great. Hell. None of us would be so pissed at some of the staff cock-blocking us all into oblivion, if we didn't really love the game itself.
We by and large had it wrenched away from us like cruel foster parents, slapping your best toy from your hands and passing it to their sneering favorite kids, then throwing you in a room, turning the lights off and telling you that you 'brought it on yourself' without offering any explanation.
This forum is a beacon to let others know that there is an entire community who believe a grand injustice is being done to what could be, or have been, a truly fantastic MUD experience.
We give a wealth of OOC information to the newbies, so they can enter the game and use it to develop their PC's, immerse themselves in the lore and have full expectations for what they are getting into codedly because we trust a good RP'er to use OOC knowledge responsibly. Bad RP'ers will be bad RP'ers, no matter how they learned what they know.
We adamantly protest wonton abuse of power and game-crushing actions which some staff members hath wrought on otherwise enjoyable plots and mechanics, features and areas.
*flips out middle fingers*
WE ARE THE PEOPLE OF ARM AND WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!

I've played Arm for eight years, I've been banned once. I like the discussion on this board, code-related and non. Oldtwink and lulz are kings, everyone else is a pleb.

You really should make an "Introduction Thread" and sticky it.

Much honored. In a small but significant way.

No offense to you, but the words you are using appear contrived, you might actually be sincere, but just reading what you said makes me slightly suspicious about your motives.
Just saying.
P.S. If I am wrong, I apologize in advance.

Welcome, and feel free to ask about anything you'd like to know. If we can, most of us will oblige.

So true. No offence taken. I make a point of not using my usual vocabulary and sentence structure on these boards. Simple English hides nothing, tells nothing. That being said, I believe that writing in a clear, precise, descriptive manner helps make myself clear to all concerned. That goes doubly for writing on boards such as this, where mission statement seems to include providing information to new players. Precision is a boon. (I am willing to compromise and say "Fuck tha' shiz!" or make a boob joke, every few posts. Just to put you at your ease.)

Quite the opposite actually, their english is perfect, it's just that it's one of those well thought out things that just raised a flag is all. However, Najniaj, good call on changing your regular speech patterns to complete the disguise, are you playing an assassin?
