Of course, we have no idea how the scene with her played out. I met the player a couple times, and I wouldn't be surprised if the whole scene had played out precisely how I'd described above. But that's just my 2 cents. It was one primer emote, to the effect of my character turning to the side and hacking up a thick glob of sputum and wadding it up in a cheek. I included a brief hemote about the characters attention focusing on her mouth. Then there was the launching, which was described as firing the glob of gooey spit directly towards her opening and closing mouth. Nothing. She continued on with the diatribe for several lines and a handful self-indulgent, flowery emotes that provided nothing to the scene but to remind everyone that, yes, this character is beautiful and enchanting beyond all mortal reason. It was all very impressive and arousing, I assure you. When others started to comment or emote watching the phlegm, it was again ignored completely. At this point, I "power emoted" it passing between her teeth and sloshing against the back of her throat, as, to be quite frank, I was annoyed at being reduced to a podium for this player to put his or her characters "perfection" on show. The others ran with it right away, laying down several very entertaining emotes at this characters, or more accurately, players, expense, leading me to believe I was not the only person annoyed at being ignored. Nothing. The entire room and everyone in it were ignored while our self-imagined Goddess finished up her rant and elegantly departed, having never acknowledged a thing, save for the failed skill check that triggered the scene in the first place.

legendary - You did the right thing, sir. Carry on! Edited to add: +1 @anaiah Excellent wording. If you want to emote flowery perfection, go find some MUSH where people are into that. This is Armageddon. We spit on people like you. Lol.

This is Armageddon. We spit on people like you. Lol. Well, yes and no. I don't mind long and descriptive emotes, especially when they include a good assortment of really well thought out words that accurately depict what you're trying to depict. It's the refusing to acknowledge that any of it happened, frankly, that rubs me wrong about all that. That said, if you read the Emere log, you can probably see that I tend to RP the long flowery stuff. Again, I think there's a place for that on Arm. What there's not a place for, though, is people ignoring other people's RP that affects them, just because they don't like it. That is terribly poor form. (That is, again, colored by my own roleplay. I'm the type of person to make it clear to anyone who knows my pcs that rape plots are - now were - always on the table, just because I don't think that being able to choose things on a meta level, should affect the IC level that way.)

Same. That's part of why I didn't even quote that part. But the part about the emotes made me giggle.

To clarify, I didn't mean to sound like I was against emoting. When I said "flowery perfection" emoting, I was referring to this: She continued on with the diatribe for several lines and a handful self-indulgent, flowery emotes that provided nothing to the scene but to remind everyone that, yes, this character is beautiful and enchanting beyond all mortal reason. It was all very impressive and arousing, I assure you. ie, clear cut cases of narcissistic, self-indulgent, and improbable emoting. We get it, you passed sixth grade English. Now go solo a bahamet so I can feel impressed. On an unrelated note, I feel very similarly about masks. If you're wearing a mask for any reason besides hiding your identity, than this is you! Stop.

I don't share your feeling on masks, and I am equally as impressed with a pickpocket whore who talks someone else into stringing up that sargeant that shorted her, than I am with someone who can solo a bahamet. Both are huge achievements, but just in vastly different fields. As to masks, I like 'em, and I think they make sense enough while outside, but in a bar, unless you're trying to hide your identity, as you said, yeah, stop. And even then, most people will assume you are. But something that covers your whole face from the raging rays of an angry sun? Yeah, if you're outdoors it is something that seems sensible enough, to me.
