Took me a minute to find this thing but here you go: www.topmudsites.com/forums/advanced-mud-concepts/4804-guidelines-rpi-mud.htmlThread I started over at TMS ages ago about the topic. Be prepared for 12 pages of tomfoolery from the TMS community where myself and Prof have to argue our way over the usage of the RPI acronym. Anyway as far as this thread goes.. I don't look for RPI's anymore but of course they have to have those guidelines in the thread I linked and I just want it to have strong documentation so I know how to play properly, as well as a strong setting and strong character development. Other than that everything comes with time and hard work. gotta wonder if imms didn't steal the current skill level descriptions from post #6..

Basically, games like New Worlds and Threshold wanted the RPI badge because it attracts players (people often hear about the term and come to the TMS forums asking for 'a good RPI') without making the slightest effort to actually have their games match what is colloquially considered an RPI. We're talking here about games without an approval process or permadeath, with in-game chat channels, levels, and I think one of them even lacked sdescs in place of names. For them to claim RPI "membership" is so absurd and pretentious, it's like a restaurant randomly demanding to be recognized as vegan without actually serving vegan food, just because vegan is becoming popular and some people look specifically for vegan restaurants.

Given that TMS is kind of shittastic anyways, maybe someone should open up a mud voting site with actual guidelines and a means to prevent bot-votes while we're on the whole "overhauling the MUD community" thing.

Someone should relaunch the RPI network.

The willpower stat in Atonement was legit. Standing in the open, it took a full clip or two (with the shots missing) to send someone with avg willpower to the ground. Which is realistic in a way. Also, the cover command was decent and widely used. Guns in Atonement were the shit and semi-realistic. I'd used that codrbase if it wasn't such a mess.

The only problem with guns in that codebase was the hide mechanic. If stealth weren't such an incredible yes-or-no proposition, it would have been perfect.
In fact, the Arm stealth with the Atonement gun code would be pretty baller.

setting firefly permadeath go Not a bad idea, but the MUD would shutdown after a year or so due to producer issues or something to that effect.

Knowing Joss Whedon and his wacky projects. Just sell him on the idea of MUDs as a concept and he will sink millions of dollars and manhours to create a perfect Firefly mud himself.
