As of 2010, it was noble born and those bought in, in the south same for when I had a templar in '08. no mindbending in the docs or anything like that. afaik though there was still the possibility of merchant houses having templars but it was an extremely uncommon thing and not very clear on how it happened.

True giants.... What the heck even? Why for they fuck up RSE? Why for anything? Maybe someone was a little too fond of their shadow of the colossus. Maybe. i just looked this up in the chronology on the official page 1575 (Year 35 Age 21) Several merchant houses make silt skimmer expeditions into the Sea of Silt, pressing into the unknown reaches south of Red Storm. Sometime during the trip, they attract the attention of the enigmatic and impossibly large Silt Giants, also known as "true giants." The giants chase the skimmer expedition back to shore, making landfall in Red Storm East. Over the course of the next few years, a few giants, so tall that their silhouettes are visible for miles, settle in Red Storm East, driving out the farmers and workers who, until then, produced much of Allanak's grain. Famine sweeps through the southern parts of the known world as grain becomes all but unavailable in Allanak and elsewhere. what the fuuuuuuuuuck youd think big dick tektolnes and/or red storm's sand lord guy would be chomping at the fuckin bit to deal with these fuckers "tall enough to be visible for miles" is a pretty vague measurement. considering the size and reputed toughness of critters players supposedly fight/hunt on the regular in this game, im surprised they dont let players at least have a go against em. or do they? probably saving it for a convenient time to have tek mind control one and have it go stomp on tuluk or some shit like that

imm fiat handwaving doesn't have to make sense. In fact, it makes more sense that it doesn't make sense. i mean how much of a threat could immortal, psionicist sorcerer kings (one a dragon, the other a mutant who can see into the fucking future) pose against incredibly stupid, tall monsters?

Muk Utep doesn't really have any investment in freeing up RSVE - it IS on the other side of the Known, and it is screwing over his arch-enemy.
Tek though, could probably just walk out there with a hood on and fireball them to death from miles away, standing on the dock or something. Set the silt sea on fire.

I had to remove it from the game per Senga's orders because Jihaens had access to it, and it's apparently how Ender's templar got a lot of his magick (if what Senga told me is to be believed), because you can order it to teach you sorcery.

hah. thats kind of cool, though, if perhaps too easy for those jihaens to reach. should have moved the head to somewhere really dangerous and deadly so that it would still be ~out there somewhere~, but hard to get to and away from and survive

I mostly brought him up to highlight the absurdity of giants being presented as a threat no one in the world could handle.

Zharal, Leisera, whatever her name was. The dusky gypsy Chosen Consort of Rovok or Rokov, can't recall which, was involved with the giants storyline and had a staff member leave them with telepathy as a result of her proximity/involvement, so it may not be far from the truth.
