Anyone ever play resellers? Could someone make a living selling salt to the north and selling wood/tubers to the south? Do any NPCs offer a premium for spice and fabrics from Red Storm? Can you do stuff like buying wooden weapons from Tuluk then selling it for more at Allanak? Any special tips for special income that can be made off foraging? It took me forever to learn that you could double your salt grebbing income by selling off the purple/grey/blue salts to NPCs.

In my experience, this all largely depends on the PCs involved.
There's a salt foraging area near Tuluk, so I wouldn't put eggs in that basket for maximum profit-- and I also wouldn't put any faith in NPCs.
Most money making will happen with selling wood/hides/bones/northonlystuff from Tuluk to PCs in Allanak and mined glass/obsidian/shell/southonlystuff from around Allanak to PCs in Tuluk.
But, like I said. Largely depends on PCs involved.
I remember I tried running a route like this years ago, and the guy wanting to buy obsidian and glass in Tuluk was offering less than I would have gotten selling it off to Allanaki NPCs and wouldn't budge on the point.
Fuck that guy.
Also, poisons will net you some good profits if you can find willing buyers.
It's also fun to load up with fruits and "exotic" foods and seasonings from either area and trading those too. Might land money, might not, but it's fun to play around with nonetheless.
Your mileage may vary.

What PMS said. (Those are your initials...) You'll have an easier time dealing with PCs, and trading in goods that they don't have access to. Especially now a days with the "war" there'll be demand for inter-city goods. My biggest WTF moment as a trader was when a Southern Aide paid me to buy a specific dresser from Tuluk. (Bitch practically gave me the inventory number.) If there was a market then, there'll be a market now, though you'll likely need a Tribal accent to pull it off.
As far as NPCs go, I've tried to play the trade route mini game in the past with a few characters. For instance, if I was playing a Bynner and we were on contract up north, I'd spend all my sid on wooden shields and try to resell them in Allanak. With a bit of trial and error, you can make some profit, but nothing spectacular. There are few items that can be reliably bought and sold for profit between the two cities. Weapons and armor are by far the easiest to resell, but they also have the lowest deviation. (An obsidian sword you buy in the south for 80 sid MIGHT sell for 90 up north, if you're lucky.)

There's also the limitless salt you can trade at the cleaners in Tuluk, but it's only a certain kind.. I forget which, but I think you get about 25 coins per.
The thing about foraging is if you can work out a few active players and keep a decent stock it really isn't difficult to start making money, but you'd be silly not to go merchant if you want to make coin.. which I feel is almost worthless unless you are in it for the long haul and play a lot.

That's the beauty of being a raw materials trader and dealing with PCs exclusively. You can profit hard, if you play your cards right and you don't have to pick the wimpiest of all guilds to do so. The haggle skill don't work on PCs.

It is, but it also demands a ridiculous amount of time. To be good at grebbing, you might as well go ranger, though perhaps scavenger is a close second? I've spent entire IC days just trying to get -1- of something, though I do think certain spots are more generous than others. If you've got that kind of time you might as well just cheese out all your ranger skills and hunt essentially risk-free way more effectively. I mean, if you're doing it for the ar-pee then go nuts, just saying.
The problem is, at least in Tuluk, it's so easy and requires almost no risk, so there's a lot of competition driving down the price and then you're really only other option is to get with a House, and I don't know how successful they are either. I don't know how easy it is in Allanak, as I am on my first character ever either, but that's what I can say from experience.

I don't really like relying on PCs for purchases. You'd likely need to wait on 5+ day indie merchants. So many players can't make it that far without storing or going out and dying. Or they just happen to not be around. And xenophobia. So much trouble. I don't really want to keep all those logs and large obsidian chunks in my pockets while I wait on them.
I was hoping for something like the Red Storm tailor exploit mentioned in that thread about subguilds. Or like selling salt to cleaners and herbalists for 20-40 sid. Things like that which nobody notices.
Man now I feel like making a dwarf warrior/ranger whose focus is trading heavy stuff.

I kind of hope that if one does exist, moofassa, that whoever knows it PMs it to you. Because it may well be taken out if it IS a relatively unnoticed thing, given that it took me 2 hours from account creation here to be banned, so it's pretty obvious that current staff read these boards, and at least somewhat often.

Fine if it is taken out if well known. I don't plan on cheating anyway. The game's been up for two decades. All the money exploits are known, especially if staff watch people. I figured that stuff like trading and selling goods is not on the GDB because of the FIND OUT IC culture there, instead of it being unfairly overpowered.
I've sent up requests with things that I think are an exploit, and staff just reply with "thank you for your report, but we don't care". Green light to twink out that stuff!

Best Exploit I know is to find dwarf merchants and if your Haggle is high, you can buy shit off em and sell it back for more, then buy it back for less, over and over.
