LoD played him. Good guy over all I used to talk to him a lot. Problem nowadays is you will never see another Sujaal really. He had a staff or group of staffer that really liked to support him. He got tons of staff support for certain things that now are completely useless (ie: northern Byn compound). The northern Byn concept was a real failure in my eyes. It's never used and hasn't been used in years as far as I know.
Sujaal himself was given his own special coded stances. And he had a flag given to him that completely negated the "group bonus" that you get. So if 3 guys are attacking him there is no combat bonus given to those 3. Technicallty 10 PCs could attack him and he would win because they never got the group bonus so each one of those 10 would have to be very powerful in order to land on him being a maxxed warrior that was difficult enough but he also had a really good offense with his special stances he was given.

AFAIK nobody can nowadays. You have to realize that the mud has gotten a lot better about handing out super powerful code to players because it creates jealousy and negativity. I want an even playing field when I try to kill you. One of the main reasons I am so vehemently against staff avatars is for that same reason.

Anyone remember this guy, what he did and what he was/had? I've never actually 'interacted' with Sujaal's player outside of the game, but I always had a positive view of him. He was the kind of guy who was obviously into the game to have fun with other people, and he really went through a lot of effort to set up RPTs for other people as a lieutenant in the Byn. Props to him.

Sujaal Non-citizen Eventually became a Chosen Hlum Strongly supported by the Bardic Circles Strongly supported by Winrothol Creator of a now defunct training group in the north Creator of the Museum north of Ysania's Way Dating a staff member who had a bard avatar and ran the north at the time
Generally Sujaal from my understanding was one of those 'not a bad guy' with perks. He used his perks to create content and you can't really give him to much grief because at the end of the day all he's got left is a museum that only bards give a fuck about anymore.

The dating staffer thing does not surprise me. Didn't know that though. I lose a lot of respect for him however because he was one of those big proponents of "be the change." and how hard work will pay off.
utter bull shit as I have always said. The game has and always will be run by the admins and those they favor to give perks to.

Always liked LoD as a player, but I never liked Sujaal because he felt so bland. As much as LoD argued about how powerful mages were, I found it fitting he killed himself on a half giant's energy shield during an HRPT in Tuluk. That was a great RPT.
As much as he and I disagreed, he really had a positive impact on the mud in my eyes.

The entire time I was on staff, the one person I was involved with at the time who was a player, I was very hesitant to even give karma 2 to them and instead asked a different staffer to monitor their play and award if they thought the player deserved it instead because I didn't want to show any kind of bias.

If I ever had anybody on my staff get involved with a player, they would pretty much have their staff account disabled. I guess I'm harsh on stuff like this but I would never tolerate such blatant fraternization.

Just monitor their activities to make sure it doesn't effect ethic, and after a trial period you can assume they're trustworthy enough not to give special attention/favouritism to whoever

It's not allowed in a lot of organizations. Military is one of them and there is good reason. It breeds discontent among others who are around it. There is a reason people keep this shit secret because they know it's wrong.
You have to realize that it's the fact that it is staff/player. Player/player? No problem. Staff/staff. Have at it. When the relationship however is between two people and one is subordinate to the other it causes problems.

One of the things that made LoD so incredible, was he would find out what was motivating other players then steer them in the right direction, or if he really liked the concept, help make it happen. Always to that other person's credit. He was really incredible to play with.
That being said, he got more of my characters killed while trying to finish a plot then was probably healthy.
But, I always had a good time trying.
