Do you guys know of any good Shadowrun or Cyberpunk muds? I looked at a couple but they didn't satisfy, either because of very low player count or something else. So basically, I'm looking for something with RP standards of arm. Permadeath would be sweet.

Note. I never ever played it, but I did look over the shoulder of a friend who have. The number of players seems sizable and the content appears interesting. Definitely something I will one day check out myself. moo.sindome.org/

I know about Sindome, but its clunky code and low player count didn't impress me. The rest did, however, it is very well written for one. The admins seem nice.

Please let me know if you find anything. Shadowrun is terrific.

Its far superior to Arm. And a lot more goes on. You actually have the freedom to actually be -someone-. Most players online are about 30ish. The code turned out to be real well. Although it takes time to get used to it and after it becomes second nature. I do warn it can be feal harsh and gritty. But admins are real helpful. I highly recommend it. It's right now ranked 9 in TMC.

Just a second ago I repeated my old post in "good games" thread. My old brain is failing.
I agree with you about admins, they were cool and helpful and patient enough with me. Players were nice as well. Maybe I should see if they deleted my PC because I last logged in about 6 months ago. At that time player count was ten or less.
What put me off the most was lack of permadeath and how you could donate some real cash for perks.
edit: They seem to allow multiplaying, is that true?

Hmm. May get into this later today and see if I can come up with a concept I like. Harsh, gritty, and good staff while being well written are the main things that drew me to stay with arm as long as I did. That and the other mud I mostly played was so censored that it kept driving me away (no sexual anything, no vulgarity, no cuss words, etc etc etc) after a month or so of playing it.

Please post your impressions after you try it. I'm thinking about giving it another chance.

No permadeath? How is 'death' handled?

Yeah, I'm rather curious about that myself.

You can purchase a clone. If you die your clone activates and if you get killed before you buy another clone you're dead for good. It's possible to perm kill someone, but it takes more effort. I'm not a fan.

The writing and atmosphere are superb. It's a mix between Spider Jerusalem's Transmetropolitan and BladeRunner.

What put me off the most was lack of permadeath and how you could donate some real cash for perks. edit: They seem to allow multiplaying, is that true? •PC might still be alive. •Perm exists trust me. i've permed players we call it 'perm' In game lingo as in: You fuck with me and i assure you i will perm you. •Cloning every time gives a chance to incur a fatal killing disease. It can be cured but treatments are highly expensive. The problem is the disease called DCD is cumulative. You can cure it on your current clone body but the next one will have it worse. •Multiplaying is no longer allowed. Like Arm you get -one- character and that's it. •I got permed several times. Now I'm more well standing. So its harder to get me permed until I contract DCD. •Player base has grown and is gwoing substantially due to its quality gameplay. It is now ranked 8 in TMC. -Perks. They exist i just didn't know how to access them. however the BIG FAVOR costs $100 and is a one time thing. The others are places to stay at. No other perks. BIG FAVOR CANNOT BE USED TO PERM ANYONE but you can go like: I want you to rig an UMC Fight so all Bets are on my favor. Once though. And not money either but you can podsibly tell then to deck you out. A lot of people don't use them and because of how they are they are unneeded. BIG FAVOR can maybe help save you... Once for $100. -Inventory is 'ugly'. It really grew on me but then again we don't have an 'inventory' do we? EDIT: My two cons are added

Since you don't like pistols you are in luck. They are illegal except for those who have the influnce (like my associates) to have them. But you can fuck up someone with a gun. But it gets better! Combat roles are completely unneccesary! I have contacts that have no combat skill whatsoever. I love that part although for my last character I took one combat skill one defense skill (Dodge is awesome lets you run if attacked as it affects fleeing since enemies can intercept your escape attempt) and three working skills. Yes perm is quite easy. But -you- must have a IC reason to perm. Because when you kill someone they usually forget everything up until they updated. I've seen players get 'iced' (permed) what they do is they kill you. Since you come back with zero shit since they probably loot your corpse they just kill you again. Like I said i got permed several times and I have permed others. But it does give you at least one exra chance in case you fuck up. And no amount of chyen will save you if you get into a blacllist for someone perming you or if by chance you get DCD and don't find the cure in time (its a find iC thing) Admin also try not to get you permed by NOCs unless you really piss them off (I pissed a whole gang got a bounty and got permed) A lot of things are similar to Arm just that staff is a lot better. They even helped me with my latest character who due to a drug and my lack of knowing how to roleplay a junkie went on a killing spree at the Park. I was given a chance by admin and even helped to redefine the character. Crazy shit is a lot happens in the game but its best to play in small bursts like 4-6 hours. And at least you don't have people just doing tavern talk and nothing else and then getting raped by mantises even though you trained for days on end... However the Wastelands are just and more dangerous then the Known. So much so rarely anyone goes out of the city. There are troves of secrets out there.
