I don't generally play pcs who enjoy fooling around casually, but yes, if they are involved with someone, I do like to act out them fooling around the first time to get a gauge of technique/chemistry/dynamic, and periodically afterward, but more often than not, a FtB can cover it just as well for the rest of the time. Denying playing a pc that has sex is something I don't get. Unless your pcs are typically asexual or don't wind up involved with anyone romantically. Is it an OOC shame thing? For me it's an OOC respect thing. I'd rather share erotic details in an intimate setting with a RL significant other, rather than a mysterious online stranger. To engage in cheap roleplay sex cheapens the real thing for me. Maybe it's just because the RL significant other I've been with 12 years (aside from a year long recess in 2010) also does it, but... it doesn't bother me, and to me, it has no impact on my actual sex life. Then again...I think sex is fairly cheap and unimportant overall anyhow. It's different if you're fooling around with someone you care about, but I don't think anything could cheapen my overall opinion of (just) sex. I understand your point of view, but it's so different that it's hard to parse and makes me want to ask you about a thousand questions about viewpoints and experiences that would just make things awkward, despite being fascinating to the psychologist in me. |

Actually full disclosure... Had Nyr and Hishn not fucked over Elrum to the point he was a social outcast in Tuluk who no one with inks would associate with. I wouldn't have had to move in with Izari ICly and a mutual friend wouldn't have given her my contact details. A true ARM love story all thanks to Nyr.

I've been mudding for over 20 years. I have not once had actual mud sex. I've had a scan few characters that have had romances in game, but not a single mud sex scene. If it ever came up, I would immediately fade to black. Seems strange and silly to me. Then again, that's not why I'm playing the mud. I guess maybe it IS why some people are playing.

Other people who play with me: You should know I'm acting this out so your pc or mine can call the other a wrong name at climax, or kill them when they're naked, etc. So... feel free to spice up the bump and grind with murder, because it's only corruption that led to it.. and you don't know yet, but I'm betraying you via the way right now. lol. |

Hah I honestly was never one for Type fucking, I actually lack the patience the skill in typing. Like no one wants to wait for you to look up thesaurus entries to find 10 different words for cock, vagina, and breasts. And medical terms like "phallus" and "mammary" I guess are mood killers. The last time I was willing to engage in mudsex on Armageddon would make you feel like a literary sexual tyrannosaurus. I couldn't respond for a time, firstly because of I couldn't stop laughing and secondly because my lesser half came to see what was so amusing. So even though we have 5 people fewer, and 22 people more joined last month that are still playing this month (if you use Talia's #'s), we have the lowest #'s for the week last week of every comparable week for the previous five years. It's fun to look back over the #'s to compare, when you think of the people talking about how no one's being driven off, it's just 'christmas'. Well, it's not. And it's no one's imagination. This really is the fewest players you've had at this time of year in at least half a decade. Merry Githmas.

I honestly have never met/talked with another Arm player who I could honestly say that guy/girl is straight up mentally stable. Y'all fucking insane, yo. very apt I dont believe in-depth roleplaying is attractive to most healthy people. The biggest draw of it is escapism; why would a sane person want to escape their life? For others theres the appeal of being able to do things you can't do in real life, almost all of which involves some form of crime. Exploring strange lands and dealing with the risk of being torn apart by horrific monsters. experiencing a claustrophobc world where an insane computer AI you can't live without gives you conflicting orders you'll be killed for obeying or disobeying. Vigilante justice or pursing an ascenton to godhood. Or maybe just eating people because you hate them. These are not the urges normal people feel the need to indulge in.As evidenced by the crushing failure of the Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty franchises. Dude. What you're describing is exactly the need that a majority of people feel the desire to indulge in. My roommate in DC, who was a fitness fanatic with a smoking hot girlfriend would stay home from work to spend 12-16 hours at a time playing xbox. And he would play it late into the night. Everyone has different needs. MUDs and such, are just a more thoughtful, somewhat slower-paced medium, with a bit more writing involved, which appeals more to the creative side of the brain. Back in the old days, there were writing clubs and such, such as Inklings of Tolkien and C.S Lewis fame, but also many other not as famous groups, and pen pals (which really got going in the Victorian era), where people sought 'escapism' as well in writing and collaborating on stories with each other. The reality is, everyone needs escapism in their lives. Even professional basketball players play NBA2K. Not everyone gets it from video games. Some get it from one night stands, casual encounters or going hiking in the Himalayas. But everyone needs it. Lazy people get it from movies and tv shows. |
