There was a post on the GDB that someone or ones had rigged the voting and TMC got mad or something.

lol - some guy points out that the votes are wacky, the Arm Krew rolls in to shitpost on everything, then the staff try to calm shit down and pretend they aren't running a zoo and the players are totally normal, honest! I don't see Arm listed on Top MUD Sites and it's been over a month. So the admin of that site determined they were cheating, or determined it wasn't worth the effort to do more than simply de-list Arm. Good riddance.

The mature thing to have done would have been to cool their jets and try and determine who was artificially inflating the vote count. Honestly, anyone cheating that way for the sake of Armageddon would have to be rather short sighted. It seems more like something someone would do if they had a grudge against the game and wanted them off the list... but all that's just speculation.
The Arm playerbase shouldn't have shat on the guy pointing out an inconsistency.

The comment by one of the arm admins has more upvotes than the thread itself. lol.

I don't know what it is ... a mud phenom maybe ... but almost every bit of OOC communication about the game turns out caustic. Forums, chats, etc. The muds where I've had longevity and enjoyed them? No forum. I had literally NO IDEA about the personal lives or viewpoints of the players behind the characters I played with.
I feel like to have a successful RPI, you really got to remove that. Just be an anonymous person there. Otherwise you end up with cliques forming, staff favoritism, etc.
I explored Arm until I had seen every room you could reach without magic, even if my character died in the process. I then explored all of the classes and skills I had karma access to, both before the karma change, and after it when I got screwed out of about half of what I'd gained access to. Finally the only thing I could really do was character interaction, but I really didn't like the majority of that I see on Arm. "Hey, look at the new thong I bought from Kadius!" "Oh, that's beautiful. Let's go upstairs so I can see it on you!" Ugh. So I strove to create conflict, and conflict often ends in death. Almost ALWAYS it ended up in my death, which was fine. That's still progressing the game along. I don't mind my story ending so long as I become a very cool part of someone else's story.
But they seem very determined now to create a conflict-free state, unless it's sponsored-conflict between a combat clan and whatever NPC they happen to have loaded.
Had I not been banned, it would have not been very much longer before I was entirely bored. I feel like they might as well remove all skills and code and become the MUSH that staff seems to want them to be.

Just be an anonymous person there. Otherwise you end up with cliques forming, staff favoritism, etc. You’re not wrong. I never really posted on the GDB much at all till towards the end of my Arm playing, and I feel like it was better that way. When you get into personal details about yourself on a forum in such a small community, it is only natural for people, especially the kind of people who play Arm, to start forming opinions and pigeonholing you into stereotypes/cliches. The staff are not exempt from this: if you had the misfortune of reading Vanth and me arguing on the Arm Facebook group, you would have seen a former upper tier imm trying to heckle me for substance use. And that was coming from someone who had stolen weed from me at an APM, heh. But it’s just indicative of the fact that staff members are people, and people form opinions/will judge you if given half a fucking reason. Ideally, anonymity is important in a game like Arm, and I feel like I fucked up some by falling short of that at time so. Having said that, I think that people still will mysteriously find out who is playing who, whether it be from staff members after leaving or maybe even current staff. At least amongst people who have been playing the game over half their lives, this seems to be an inevitability. One answer to that problem is maybe backing off when it comes to people making second accounts - not to condone multiplaying, but to insure that players have the respect and privacy that makes for a good game. On the other hand in response to public posting, well, lots of us have been playing the game, like I said, for over half our lives... and the forums are one of the only ways to communicate/share shit with people that, often, we have known for a really, really long time. So, I understand the desire to post on the GDB... but the negatives are hard to deny, especially if you aren’t just putting up cookie cutter posts.

It's a catch-22. I can't turn to my RL friends and say, "guess what cool shit I just did in my text game online". First off because they wouldn't give a shit but second because mudding is a guilty pleasure and secret shame both.
So I turn to other players, but the reality is that they don't share my life experiences and have absolutely nothing in common with me politically or otherwise. They're also mostly generations younger than me, which just furthers that divide.

I got some kudos so I wondered, "why are they sending me these if I'm banned?" I checked and they removed the ban without saying anything. BUT they force-stored the character I was playing.
I sent in a request wanting to know why, saying I don't want to invest any more time in the game unless they're going to tell me what's going on.
The answer?
Nessalin says, "Noted."

Looks like valenkudos is happening which is evidently some kind of period where players are encouraged to send kudos to those they enjoyed playing with. It's possible that there was some general amensty given out or you were banned for a set time and/or some limitation in the request tool required unbanning you to fulfill sending the kudos.
All that we know is that you have been Noted, taken Note Of, perhaps your words were Marked...
I didn't get any Kudos which is hurtful because when I was playing back in 2007 I felt like I was pretty okay </3

I think the longer your character lasts in a large clan in a capacity that adds to the clan as well as the closer you get to leadership roles/are in leadership roles... the more likely you are to get kudos.
Kudos or lack thereof are probably one of the last things anyone should get bummed out about. Seriously.
The simple fact of the matter is that playing in large clans/having highly visible characters that people might be more apt to send kudos to, well, that’s not for everyone, especially if you’re within your first few years of playing or after coming back after an extended hiatus. And, at any rate, some of the players of those characters can be sycophants/snide little turds like Malken who are getting to play sponsored roles because all they do is tavern sit/have publicly lashed out against this board/play a fucking lot/have friends on staff.
You will have more fun in the game if you’re not trying to be like some of those players, kudos or no kudos.

They just close the ticket as fast as possible so that the rest of the staff members don't read your comment and get dissuaded from being useless cogs in an impotent machine. It's not noted; it's disregarded. They would rather pansy-ass 5 new horrific players than try to keep you, someone who cares about the game, onboard. If you think the thought-police is bad for the playerbase, you should taste the kool-aid that the staff members make themselves drink. Fragility incarnate.
