Well, I was permanently banned from the GDB........for.......posting things some people/certain staff don't agree with on a personal level....... (Edited to Add: There is no copy of the original message I was sent when I was banned explaining why....because one doesn't exist. They couldn't explain why....I just went to login and couldn't and never got a single explanation.) If you care to see why, you can see it here: LINK it's all still there, every post, because nothing I posted even garnered enough merit in terms of "being against the rules" to even be edited out/moderated. I sent in a request asking to be un-banned since nothing I posted was against the rules, obviously. It was an unpopular opinion/truth, sure, but not against the rules. The fact it is still there un-moderated in any form days later and other people are still talking about it says everything. The response I got was: Declined by Nessalin

Armageddon StaffWhich is a huge non-answer in the face of a lack of an answer (and a thinly veiled childish insult to the tune of "you are a stupid head and I don't like you"). How do you explain in any professional manner, "Well, some of us didn't like your opinion personally, and even though it isn't against the rules, we are going to take this opportunity to push our personal social agenda and abuse our power.". You really can't, so I can't blame them for not giving me an answer. I wouldn't want to answer to that either if I planned to save face. I was banned in a knee-jerk reaction based on personal emotions and feelings. If I were to be un-banned it would only substantiate that. So....there was never any chance I was going to be un-banned, to un-ban me would be admitting their failure. Either way. This is the only place you can really post this sort of thing, and this sort of thing needs to be made public. I was just ousted from that community after all of these years for having an unpopular opinion, not breaking a rule, and nothing more. I was kicked out because, "You believe things we don't believe, and if you don't believe what we believe, you don't belong.". It's ironic my only point was, "I don't feel that playing the thought police and censoring people's private sense of humor should be a thing.", and I was actually banned basically by said thought police. Fair enough then. If that's the sort of community it's going to be these days, I agree with you that there's certainly not a place there for me on those forums. I'll just continue to be a great player, when I feel like playing, and carry on. (I'm not here to get any opinions on this really. Feel free to leave an opinion if you like but I may not respond. I'm just posting this up because this is the only outlet in which to post it, and I feel this was an abuse of power. That sort of thing needs to be seen publicly. If nobody ever sees this sort of thing, then nothing can ever change for the better.) rape apologia is probably among the best reasons i've seen someone banned from armageddonmud so uh fuck you i guess gj nessalin? Obvious troll posts will not get responses beyond being informed they will not have the subject matter of their post considered. This one is particularly so poorly put together. Further responses from you will likely be ignored in all probability. |

To my understanding, rape apologia boils down to blaming the victim of the attack, I, personally, have no evidence Desertman himself has done so, even jokingly, nor is it my business if he did so. Beyond that, character attacks in a community of filthy scumbags is kind of, bonkers, so I have to assume you're trolling.

Off hand is an interesting one,there are a few weapons I know of that straight up cant be offhanded regardless of strength.
Other than that it is definatly strength to wield it same as mainhand.

My wife and I participate in the Secret Santa Event on the GDB every year. I just received a package from Russia addressed to "Desertman". The package read, "From the motherland.". What I received was a very tasteful 2017 calendar featuring none other than the most manly of manly leaders, The Great Prime Minister. I'm glad that the Arm staffers are making an effort, but TBH it feels like too-little too-late. The culture of the game just feels so lacking compared to what it was. There's a richness to the world that just isn't there anymore, and I put the blame squarely on Nyr for bludgeoning proactiveness so he can play pretend at being popular. It feels less like an RPI MUD and more like an in-character chat room. And no, I don't mean a MUSH, because MUSHes at least have a clarity of character and RP that I just don't see in Arm anymore.
Even Allanak, which had been insulated against that trend because of its inherently cruel and brutal style, has succumbed due to the flood of mincing Tuluki refugees characters.
It's really too bad.
