Did it go away or something? It used to be the main item you used for the 'trap' skill and if you had enough of it technially you could blow the shit out of buildings killing everything inside lol.
Basically you would tkae a pouch of flash powder and a fuse, trap <direction> <flash powder> <fuse> and if someone opened the door it would blow up and do damage. People were notorious for practicing their trap skills in the labyrinth.
You could technically trap any container so some people who trap backpacks, thing is (and I think this was coded as well) people would fill the backpack with as much flash powder as they could fit and then trap the pack. If somoen opened the pack they were dead instantly and it also did AOE damage to the room. I've heard of 3-4 PCs dying to a well trapped backpack.

Yes, they retconned it. So those deaths never oficially happened anymore. What was the flash powder made of?

Flash powder was silly and I'm personally not going to miss it.

No It was supposed to be a really common item. I've been told sawdust (which makes 0 sense to me, but okay) And Mul Mix.

I do not really have the full information. But odds are, if a player's character made flash powder, it was not done through a skill of his own. Meaning it wasnt a matter of crafting flashpowder from this and that. It was probably more roleplayed out. Maybe a trip up to the volcano for brimstone, maybe scouring through the sewers, etc. Then once the materials accumulated, they would be given to some Guild NPC artificer, gorus, or maybe someone in HK/Jaxa Pah. And the NPC would create it, or fail in creating it (Probably fail very loudly). Now, I am not saying this has been done. But to my knowledge, this is the only way a PC would be able to participate in creation of flash powder somehow.

There was no volcano at this time. Flash powder was bought from Gorus the dwarf npc shop that you have to 'rent' to get to. You could buy packets of it or barrels. I never found out what it was 'made' of but it really didn't matter it was an item that Gorus had unlimited supply of so PCs could buy barrels upon barrels and use the stuff. I'm fairly certain in the history of Arm page there is an entry for the ALA (Allanak Liberation Alliance) where they bombed the dragon temple and blew the shit to hell.

A LOT has changed since then. Even before it got taken out, Gorus would get a packet of flash only infrequently. I actually had Jaxa Pah stop me as I was leaving the shop and had the flash taken away. They actually ignored all the coins and some fancy equipment, just took the flashpowder away. Across the years, flash got rarer and rarer and rarer.

Originally I think flashpowder was simply gunpowder.

So it was impossible to craft it then, right?
Because I know how to make gunpowder. Charcoal, Saltpeter (found in herbavore animal dung) And water, essentially. And I tried making it that way.

Yeah, not sure how I forgot to put that in. Sort of a very important part.
